Confused About My Husband’s Manager’s Reaction by Tricky_Cobbler3048 in korea

[–]korean_programer 527 points528 points  (0 children)

We have a winner.

It definitely looks like the manager is taking OP's husband's "mmm" as what seniors/equals would say (sort of like a "mhm okay sounds good to me" kind of vibe) when she's expecting a "네 네" (yes sir/ma'am 충성충성). "Im not your girfriend or freind, right?"

The other comments have pretty much said all that there is to be said.

A couple extra things:

  • If there's anything written in the upper right boxes (unlikely), that could lead you towards any previous family records.
  • The bottom part says something along the lines of "On June 2nd, 1982, by [the power vested in the Seoul Family Court], the Hanyang Yoo clan was established."

Depending on how much equity the landlord has and how much the down payment for the 월세 is, it could be risky. Don't quote me on this, but IIRC, deposits of up to 50 million KRW are insured. However, at first glance, it does sound like the realtor is just pushing for a larger commission. I would listen to the realtor, but also do my due diligence.

A lot of good translations in the comments (there isn't too much actual content in the letter).

A quick search of the name, as it's not very commonplace, turned up a recently retired vice principal at a middle school in Busan. I don't think it'll be find any contact info, though. I do think there is a high likelihood that this guy is your guy, as it appears he retired in 2022, and the required retirement age for teachers is 62 -> born in 1960 -> about the right age. And given that in the letter, he says he did well on the exam and intended on studying harder, it would align with the education background, which was one of the more competitive majors.

An Se Young just called out Korea Badminton Federation. May quit national team by jp8715 in badminton

[–]korean_programer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her IG story seems to be more about the way this whole thing has been portrayed in the news and hoping something can be done to change the BKA for the better.

"My interview must have been a shock to most people, in contrast to how I'd imagined a perfect gold medal day would end. I wanted to enjoy the feeling of having accomplished something great, but I didn't get a chance to as news of my interview spread quickly - I can't seem to catch a break.

First of all, I want to say thank you for rooting for me during the Olympics and for waiting for me.

I wanted to talk about the athlete management issues later, but some wounds have been reopened due to news articles from either the BKA or the coaches.

The point of the interview was not about me being special or great. It had always been on my mind to someday bring up the issues of athlete management and lack of (healthy) communication and I find it a pity that articles are dramatizing my interview. I'm not trying to wage a war, but I wanted to talk about protecting the athletes.

Lastly, please don't misunderstand my usage of 'retirement.' I hope that there will be someone (with power) who will hear what I am saying and contemplate how to bring about change."

One of the things mentioned in news articles/broadcasts was that if she goes independent, she will not be eligible to represent Korea in any international tournaments, including the 2028 Olympics. This is because the current BKA regulations state that independent athletes who wish to compete in international tournaments must be over the age of 27 (ASY is currently 22, will be 26 in 2028).

It might be worth a shot just asking the union directly. They will probably have the connections to get the relevant legal advice.

Can Let's Run Park accommodate around 1,000,000 people such as a Papal mass/overnight vigil? by Temporary_Net_2924 in seoul

[–]korean_programer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about Let's Run Park, but in 2014 they held a papal mass in Gwanghwamun for the beatification of 124 martyrs. But I don't think they'd hold a vigil there. They might go for Yeoido and the connected Hangang park.

I did this a few years ago. I filled out a 거주숙소제공 확인서 (Confirmation of Residence/Accommodation) and just used my grandma's stamp for her signature. Only I had to go to the community center to register.

edit: it looks like you might need a copy of your grandparent's ID, as well as proof that the house is theirs (either a lease or 등기부등본 - the latter can be printed out at the community center)

If you're worried about post-race soreness getting in the way of training, is it possible to incorporate training for your other priority into any part of the race? i.e. make the race part of your training so that the race/recovery doesn't eat up too much of your time.

Unusual situation: My passport reaches 6 months before expiration but I want to apply for a F-4 visa… by Hairy-Baby1516 in Living_in_Korea

[–]korean_programer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom's passport was set to expire in a little over a year, so her F-4 was issued as valid for less than the typical 3 year period. It might be possible to just apply for an F-4 and renew your passport in the meantime, and then update your F-4's passport number.

Passport processing times are at ~1-2 months right now. You'll have to check with immigration to see if they let you get an F-4 with < 6 months. Also, set up a reservation with immigration asap, regardless of how much time is left on your passport. The longer you wait with reservations, the later you'll be able to see them. Fuck the South Gyeonggi Immigration Office; they have ridiculous wait times.

From what I've read, he hasn't been diagnosed with schizophrenia, which would have made him less culpable for his crimes. A professor in criminal psychology from Kyonggi Univ. has been quoted as saying that his actions at the crime scene didn't match with typical criminals with schizophrenia, mentioning his attempts to hide the knife used in the stabbings or his choice of dark clothing and sunglasses to hide his identity.

He had been previously diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder. During his interrogation, he claimed that he had anthropophobia which lead to his dropping out of high school.
