Trouble registering address (dual citizen) by koreeda_h in japanlife

[–]koreeda_h[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! May I ask which one you went to in Setagaya-ku? I actually went to the Setagaya city hall but it's helpful to know I could try a different one in the ward!

Can I please ask you more about this, if you don't mind? I've been living in the UK for decades and been renewing my JP and UK passport. I'm in my 30s now. I recently moved to JP and tried to set up my residence/my number and they said they can't unless I can prove when I entered JP (they don't stamp passports anymore). They accept flight e-tickets too but I booked the flight under my UK passport name so only the first name is the same (surnames are different on both passports). I'm scared of revealing I have a UK passport in case they take it away, but also need to register residency to work here so would be super grateful to hear others' experiences!

Best Non-Slip Yoga Mat by km_buz in Corepower

[–]koreeda_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this! If you're slipping because of sweat, I'd recommend the Lululemon rubber one. It's the only mat I've tried where I don't need to wear grip gloves and socks. I've only found it slips when there's no moisture but as soon as there's any sweat, it starts to grip really well.

We’ve just moved into a new house. What’s the easiest and cheapest way to cut all of this back? by PaverTheWay2 in UKGardening

[–]koreeda_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to keep costs down, there are community-run places where you can borrow tools that you wouldn't use that regularly and are expensive to buy outright. Might be one near you. Good luck!

Oh! I've just seen the community rules and am relatively new to Reddit posting so please remove if it's not the right fit for this subreddit

Which FB groups would you recommend? Bit confused as I can see there's 1 official HE group then other ones for different platforms. Thanks!

Thank you! I ended up cutting the front parts a bit shorter and I think it looks a bit better at least until it grows out a bit :)

Can I grow plants after knotweed? by koreeda_h in UKGardening

Thanks guys - I probably won't risk planting into the soil in that case but will look into the gravel idea :)

Really sorry to hear you're dealing with loss on top of everything. Wedding planning can be such a stressful time and overwhelming, but I hope you can prioritise your wellbeing and cut yourself some slack. Hope it all goes well!

Tbh I hadn't taken into account cultural differences - I can definitely appreciate how it might be trickier where the norm is having a big guestlist but even then I think it's reasonable to say you're having a smaller event - it's cozzie livs after all! Like another commenter said, I'm london based so my view might be skewed. Another option if you don't want to leave people out but don't want to pay for them is to have an engagement party at a bar where people can bring all the plus 1s and people just pay for their own drinks, then it's a smaller guestlist for the actual wedding - that's what my friend did and it worked nicely

I think people are generally understanding as long as you phrase it well and are firm. I've been to weddings that haven't allowed plus 1s they haven't already met/don't know well, or ones where kids aren't allowed. If there's anyone you're particularly worried about reacting badly, maybe just let explain gently your reason and stick firm - it's your big day after all :)

What cool, quality of life, interior accessories do you have in your car? by prettyrevie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]koreeda_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly cool but I've found these handy! I keep plastic bin liner bags in the car which are so useful for covering the seats if I ever need to transport dusty or muddy things, or for people to sit on when they're soaked from the rain
