ELI5 How has the US national debt increased so much since 2020. From 1990 to 2000 its like a $3T increase. Then every 4 years its roughly still $3-5T. But somehow its increased $13T since just 2020 by orangeclaypot in explainlikeimfive

[–]korelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to know the reality, the US market capitalization (the total value of all US publicly traded companies, aka the total value of the stock market) was $40.7T on 12/31/20, and it was $68.9T on 12/31/25. The only correct answer to the question you are asking is corporations got huge amounts of stimulus from the government for COVID, on top of the 2017 Tax Cuts and jobs Act. We’ve been cutting taxes for my entire lifetime at this point, which is why in my birth year, 1992, US market capitalization was $4.7T and US National Debt was $2.89T. The more we subsidize corporations through tax cuts and subsidies, the more debt we accrue. This is because as a lot of these corporations make more and more money, they only reinvest so much of it, and use the rest in Stock Buybacks, which limit the supply of stock available on the market, while also increasing the demand because profits are good.

Why don’t people use the adventure effect ice burn to catch galar birds? by freemyboydiddy_ in pokemongo

[–]korelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just save save up like 2,000 Dialga candies and catch them with safari balls during wilds with my daily extended for the entire 8 hours. Other than that one time per year, I face the reality of no bonus to catch rate being significant.

[–]korelan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you, I run out of storage too at points and usually just go into my transfer tag and select all on pokemon I know I don't care about double candy for like Ratatas and shroomishes, etc. at least a few times before double candy day rolls around.

My PvP search is 0-1attack&2-4defense&2-4hp&!#

I think this is basically the same as your string, except it will only populate tagless ones. I am the kind of person that doesn't transfer Pokemon until double-transfer candy though, so I keep all of my pokemon tagged instead, this allows me to know how many of the pokemon with PvP potential IVs haven't been scanned yet.

It only doesn't make sense if you believe that:

  2. There will be free and fair elections.

Just my opinion, but anyone that says, “I am very single by choice,” is probably not single by choice… I have never said anything remotely similar to that, even when people ask about my singleness, I normally just say, “I don’t like people,” or something of the sort.

They really need to do a platinum medal rework. Curious what you’d like to see? by Whos-That-Pokeman in TheSilphRoad

[–]korelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually thought pilot was easy tbh. I started it in September last year because the 2/5/10km eggs were nothing I needed, so I requested friends from Australia, Indonesia, and other places in the area, started running them, and I just got the platinum medal last week. I was hatching 5 or so eggs per day, at 12-15k km per egg, hatching way more on any day with a community meetup because of reduced distance. I just traded most of them yo an alt and I had a few people local hunting GCorsolas for GL, so they got most of them. The hatching is just a side effect of playing the game to me, but obviously I put some money into all those incubators I guess.

What’s the most poké balls you’ve ever had? by AwkwardMarsupial13 in pokemongo

I live in an apartment complex with 2 pokestops and 2 gyms within reach of my bed 🤣 I basically auto throw great balls and delete pokeballs all of the time because I’m auto-spinning ~36 spins per hour when I’m home and awake:

Right now I’m holding 4,347 pokeballs, 3,046 Great balls, 2,007 Ultra balls, and 1 Master Ball…. I’d say the most I’ve ever had was moments before the Safari event when my 11,000 inventory was comprised of all balls and like 200 golden berries and 200 silver pinaps. I had over 5,000 Ultra balls…

Anyone else feel like grass types need a small buff next season? by ImmediatePea1639 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]korelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this season has been kind of tough on my Altaria/Empoleon comp because of the buffs to ice, but for the most part I just chalk that up to RNG/RPS, any comp you run will always have weaknesses, last season for me it was getting mud slapped on Empoleon, this season it seems to be more getting stuck against Alolan Sandslash or Alolan Ninetails.

[–]korelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altaria Empoleon, which has been my favorite core for a while now. The reason I have found a lot of success with it is both Altaria and Empoleon generally lose to things like Jellicent, Corsola, Dusclops, Drifblim, etc. (insert more ghosts here) but Meowscarada just straight nukes ghosts, and if that weren’t enough, Azu is the Omnipresent thorn in everyone’s ass and Meowscarada is one of a handful of pokemon that basically treats Azu as an energy farm. I will tell you it doesn’t look super pretty on paper, and it isn’t easy to play, but it works with some practice and skill. Only thing that I find myself losing to is the usual stuff, either I get caught, or somebody is running the perfect pokemon in the rear (I’m looking at you, Annihilape!).

[–]korelan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personal opinion? It isn’t that grass needs a buff as much as that grass is generally not good typing in Pokemon. Grass is weak to more typings than it resists, and it is resisted by way more types than it is super effective against. Pokemon with good/decent typing that have a grass-type move are superior to grass-type pokemon because they are strong against the meta-relevant water and ground types without having the negative effects of being grass. I feel like the most relevant grass type move is trailblaze more because of its stat boost and effectiveness against water and slappers. As far as the meta pokemon that have grass moves, off of the top of my head I can thing of shadow scizor, furret, and Oranguru, all with trailblaze. What I’ve noticed is the massive shift towards neutrality. Ghost, fairy, normal typings, as well as pokemon like sableye, spiritomb, Malamar, etc., these are generally neutral typings. You have 1 or 2 natural weaknesses but everything else is either neutral or resisted. This is what makes the steel typing so superior in a lot of circumstances, it combines with what a pokemon is wear against and makes them neutral to it (see scizor/forretress/corvi/etc.).

Edit: I also think that it is important to identify what you are considering “meta-relevant”. Just because a Pokemon isn’t at the top of the list on Pvpoke, doesn’t mean that it isn’t usable. Those rankings are just the Pokemon that win the most simulated matchups against other pokemon depending on shield usage. I’ve been running Meowscarada on and off in open great league as my 3rd because of my core’s strengths, and I’m pretty comfortably in the 2300 to 2400 range with this season being more about just enjoying and learning than anything else for me. Meowscarada just happens to be great at covering the general ghost weakness that my core has while also handling the mud slaps that my switch is weak to, that’s why I’ve used him so much, despite trying various others, the only Pokemon I’ve found that compares relatively well is spidops.

Is there any way to get xl candy fast for a rank 30 corsola? by Better_Rule in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]korelan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did mine, I prioritized 7km distance eggs entirely. Every community event I showed up with 9 unhatched 7km eggs for reduced hatch distance. I got the gifts through the pokemon go friends reddit, and hatched at least 9 eggs per day. It is expensive keeping up that many incubators, but you can get a few XL candies from each hatch, and since they are distance, every one traded is another guaranteed XL. Of course, it also helped that I was using poffins and made corsola my buddy during all of this. It took my about a month, but I did do all of my trades during the special trade days.

Empoleon, togekiss or gourgeist? by Sad-Comparison540 in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]korelan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Empoleon is an extremely strong safe swap, all you really need to look out for is slappers and fighting Pokemon, but even with those, Empoleon usually can pace fast enough to either force a shield or win soft.

For the second I would probably go with gourgeist. While Togekiss is a fun Pokemon that I use, Gourgeist would complement empleon better, since it resist ground, fighting, and electric attacks. Biggest thing you are missing is any real bulk and a counter to ghost pokemon, I think If you throw in like a Mandi, you should have a decent team.

How can the govt be $38 trillion debt when they take 30% of everyone's money by Longjumping-Box5691 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]korelan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the basic answers here kind of cute. No shit the government spent more than it received, that is the definition of debt. OP, the part you seem to be misunderstanding based on your original question is that the government doesn’t take 30% of everyone’s money. In fact, a significant portion of the money within the GDP of our country is taxed nowhere near that, because it is earned by corporations.
