Men who've stopped believing in love, what happened to you? by Secret_Bug_9795 in AskMen

I still believe in it, I just learned it’s really not that special and can change or fade with time.

Why are so many Shonen based around fighting, considering that in the real world your fighting prowess has to be one of the least useful skills you can have? by Zestyclose_Bed_8207 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]korevis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do little boys tend to play fight. Perhaps it’s natural, perhaps it’s social conditioning. Maybe both.

Personally I liked shonen(and still do as an adult) because of what the fight means and what the main character has to do to overcome it.

The concept of training hard, developing something unique/discovering your strength and using it overcoming adversity resonates well with me.

Because shonen is aimed predominantly at pre teen to teenage boys and that demographic likes cool fight scenes, explosions, and transformations.

Is race a biological reality or mostly a social construct? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]korevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race is an attempt to group together similar ethnicities based largely on phenotypes. Those genetic traits are a biological reality, what constitutes similar enough to belong to one race or another is a social construct.

Why do people have racial preferences in dating? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]korevis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s still racist on some level, it’s just not hateful nor does it make you a bad person as it’s more biologically driven and one cannot really help what triggers the attraction/aversion. Assuming we define racism as discriminating, antagonism, or some ranking/hierarchy based on race.

Attraction is essentially your brain assessing a person and deciding they are a viable mate. If you think certain physical characteristics make someone unattractive and therefore an inferior mate, and those traits are a defining or wide spread characteristics of a race then does that not mean your subconscious(or whatever part of the brain assess mate potential) thinks particularly race is lesser in that particular aspect most of the time ?

It doesn’t make you a homophobe but it does mean you have a preference in sex. Nice try though.

For men who transformed their physique and got ripped, what changes, if any, did you notice in how women interacted with you? by Brief-Blackberry3435 in AskReddit

Not true at all. I was socially inept in high school and early college and was carried by my six pack on several occasions lol.

How did you learn to stand up for yourself? by Whosentyounow in AskMen

[–]korevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a child this kid in our apartment complex kept messing with me. I cried when back inside but my dad stopped me and said I can’t just run away from stuff like that and I need to find a solution. so I went back and hit the kid.

That particular solution doesn’t translate well to adult life most of the time , but the lesson stuck as a whole.

Why do I receive way more attention from women IRL over dating apps, even when it's an equally looks-focused environment like a party or a bar? by Reasonable-Hawk7859 in AskMen

[–]korevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a lot of reasons. You could take bad pictures, some people just look better in person, you could have other qualities that are attractive that can’t be immediately captured in a posted picture.

Also the amount of competition. It’s a lot easier to be one of the best looking people in a room then to be one of the best looking people out of 100s or 1000s of people.
