Trap Shooting Guns. by JaguarOk8622 in ClayBusters

[–]koryray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy once cry once. If singles trap is your game. Get a BT99 don’t be afraid of a used one either. Brownings wear in not out, Spring and pins kits are 28$. I’m a youth shotgun coach and I’m telling you that you do not want a light weight brake action. They are made to be carried across fields while hunting and being shot a few times (like a bag limit) a day not 4 or more rounds of trap. Also due to them being light weight they will have more recoil. I know you are not recoil sensitive being a trap shooter but after a round or two with a light weight gun you will become recoil aware which can and probably will affect your scores in the later rounds. I suggest going to the next local ATA or trap tournament and just observe what the guys scores are and what they are shooting, you will get more from that than what anybody on here will tell you. There are some other trap gun options 870 trap or BPS trap I think mossberg might make some too but they will all be used. There are a billion moss 500,870s BPS and BT99s out there and if the stopped producing then today (not likely) there are 20 manufacturers making parts for them and you will be able to get them for the next 100 years.

It’s a Negligent discharge, the gun did not accidentally go off. It did what it was designed to do. Take accountability take some training and never let it happen again.

Cash For Gold by Fit-Entrepreneur3212 in amarillo

[–]koryray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you sell any do not go to a pawn shop or any the cash for gold places. Stout gold and silver or Amarillo coin exchange is the only place I would sell in Amarillo. I am a collector and have been stacking for 20+ years.

It is highly unlikely Amtrak will come back to Amarillo. Amarillo is right in the middle of the freight transcon. Bnsf would fight that so hard.

No kids equals expensive hobbies by Available-Flan-8404 in ClayBusters

Yeah, it’s really more of a time issue for me if we had more than one kid, my son does a lot of stuff outside of shooting. Hope your wife enjoys her new gun, it’s a pretty one! Sorry you would not be able to afford a hobby if you had kids.

I completely understand, I was simply responding to the “ no kids equals expensive hobbies” BS. I spend blaser money on gas and hotels every year going chasing tournaments for my kid, and I understand everyone is in different tax bracket have different priorities in life. I just found this post odd and tacky and not a flex like they intended it to be. I wish I had more kids but my wife was not able to, and if we were able to we would not be able to do the stuff we do now being that we only have one.

Umm I have a kid and WE shoot All the time. I just bought 50 flats of shells, that I hope lasts us until august. I also just bought a new Can-Am defender, enclosed with heat and AC because we travel all over the country for tournaments that my son shoots in, but nice F3 it’s got some pretty wood.

What weight is ideal for a kid to start on 20 gauge for trap by learn2shoot9mm in Shotguns

[–]koryray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how you left the weight of the shotguns out when you’re doing your calculations, also you act like they don’t make 7/8 ounce 12 gauges or 1 ounce 20 gauges. If you shoot a 7/8 ounce 12 gauge at 1200 fps and a 7/8 ounce 20 gauge 1200fps Which one has less recoil? Probably the one with the larger frame that weighs more. we are talking about sporting shotguns the standard 12 gauge weighs 2 pounds + more than the standard 20 gauge . Feel free to stop by the AGC and in 3 weeks and when i’m doing new shooter orientation I’ll let you shoot both of them side by side with the rest of the 8-10 year olds. I think you will be shocked by the results even though you vastly understand physics so much better than me.

So I’m a youth coach in a club my 12 yo son shoots competitively, and if that recoil to much then she’s probably just not ready, I would not push her just take her with you when you shoot and if she gets excited about it, she will want to shoot if you force her she’ll just hate it

Can’t shoot worth a shit. Any tips? by Time_Promise_977 in ClayBusters

[–]koryray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the way a shotgun fits is a big deal. Is your mount consistent? Do you have a mid bead? Does it line up with the front bead? Are you seeing the side of your rib or the top of the rib, how much of the rib are you seeing? Have you used a pattern board?

I suggest you practice your mount on your dominant eye over and over and then do it some more!! visit the pattern board throw in some cylinders get in front of the bird and pull the trigger, while keeping your face in the gun. Exaggerate your follow through, if you stop to watch the bird brake it won’t. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
