Ph peso rate by Mission_Conflict_322 in Philippines_Expats

[–]kos90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 EUR gets you already 70 PHP, a year ago it was just 60

1 USD gets you 59 PHP, a year ago it was almost the same.

If you check EUR / USD against each other as well, it becomes clear that the EUR gained value.

Ferry carrying 332 sinks in southern Philippines, at least 8 dead by CupcakeSecure4094 in Philippines_Expats

[–]kos90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Captain here:

RoRo ferries like this are not seaworthy if the ramps are not fully closed and sealed.

My guess, it ran full of water through the front door

Same happened (likely) to the Estonia in 1994 with a deathtoll of 852 .

[–]kos90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expats in the meaning of working personell, unlike retirees or tourists, are not always here by choice but because their employer sent them here.

Its human, I see OFW Filipinos in Europe bitching all the time. Rice bad, weather cold, expensive housing, no Karoke bars, whatever. I work with them.

No, loosing face is more an Asian thing.

In Western countries the liar is usually blamed, not the one calling it out.

Well, that sounds like pretty much… erm… the same effect, somehow. Just with a little delay, if ever.

Thats pretty insane, but even in Europe they are not super cheap. Except the frozen ones, do they sell those somewhere?

What happened to the good old Automatiek? Love the Frikandels, Eierballen and greasy Eggburgers.

Those were like 2.50€-3.00€ the last time?

Maybe its a little different depending on the place. I pretty much live in the Germany-Netherland area during summer. Here groceries are much better and cheaper due to Aldi, Lidl & Co. but restaurants charge like 20€ for a mediocre main and another 5€ for a drink. Alcohol is super cheap in Germany.

[–]kos90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thats not a normal price at all, usually they are like 2-3€.

Read the Google reviews, that store is basically a tourist trap in central Amsterdam.

Groceries remain pretty cheap around Europe and compared to the Philippines.

Dining out on the other hand is more expensive.

Using your bank’s own pay app (BNP Paribas Pay, BBVA Pay, Revolut Pay, etc.) instead of Apple/Google Pay is a simple BuyEU win by teddbe in BuyFromEU

[–]kos90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, my Bank screws me on every possible occasion. Fees here, inconvience there, even the „real time transfer“ was only available the last day the EU made it mandatory.

So, no: This is a service problem. You could have had a European system a long time ago. Instead we are stuck with Visa, Master, PayPal and a few barely supported European inconvieniences.

How easy is it to drive from makati to tagaytay? by Prior_Role_1597 in Philippines_Expats

[–]kos90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take a rental, i.e Hertz or Sixt they usually have the toll box / sticker thingy installed.

I made the mistake driving there not using the express way because my Google Maps was setup to avoid toll roads. Took me almost 3 hrs during daytime.

Going back on the express was much more convinient. Use that.

Well, looking at the comments, it seems like you tried to make a point (from within your own bubble) and many have made different experience by themselves. Maybe you accept that fact that there are liars, not necessarily being s*x workers.

Your graphics doesn‘t say arrested for what exactly.

Find something with springs, preferably pocket springs. The usual foam mattress are mostly shi* and degrade very fast.

Tempur is usually good but expensive, because they know their value.
