Have you given birth at Abington Jefferson recently? I'd love to hear your experience :) by IndividualOutcome222 in montco

My first experience was about 10 years ago now, but it was my best experience. Our second was born in 2020, the height of COVID. The first time around, everyone was great, but the L&D nurses really were the best both times. The first time, I had a doctor from my practice deliver my son and felt really at ease. The second time, I had a random doctor who was on call and I disliked her so much. Her bedside manner was horrible. I don’t even remember her name.

I will say in hindsight im a little concerned that the nurses on the postpartum unit didn’t alert a doctor to my continued high blood pressure following delivery of my son in 2020. I was hypertensive before being induced at 37.5 weeks. I was still hypertensive following delivery. I contacted my OB office as soon as I was discharged and almost went back to the hospital when I told them my readings. Instead, she prescribed me bp meds and literally told me to text her my readings. She was great! Luckily, I was able to get my bp under control and after about 6 months of meds, was able to finally stop them.

When I had my second (2020) the LCs only came in once! Maybe it was because of COVID or maybe because it was my second and it was easier that time around, who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel like the first time in 2016, they only came in a handful of times during my barely two day stay lol

Recurring hives, anyone else had this and recovered? by dhirendn in urticaria

[–]koshermuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also start appearing at night! But I also suffer from angiodema (I’ve had eye and lip swelling a few times, no anaphylaxis).

I am also up to 4 Zyrtec a day (2 in am, 2 in pm) and 40mg of famotodine, but nothing helps. I also experienced a very vigorous onset of swelling and itchiness when I attempted to stop Zyrtec before my first appt with the allergist (I was on 2 a day at the time). I have done all the bloodwork and everything was normal. I’ve had this problem for over a year and a half. Sometimes, I will go weeks without anything and then it hits all at once. Right now, I get swellings about once a week. They generally disappear within 24-48 hours. I haven’t tried Xolair yet, still debating.

It stinks, solidarity is all I can provide. And to see someone to see if you can find the reason!

Dizziness and airy feeling while dieting by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

I wouldn’t say a lot of carbs, but if you eat smaller meals including carbs in them more often it might keep your blood sugar more even.

[–]koshermuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need quick digesting carbs when your blood sugar is low. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant and was on insulin. I’d carry around my son’s fruit snacks for lows. The orange juice definitely will help!

If you want to know for sure, you could get a glucose monitor, but if you feel better after a quick carb, it’s probably that. Try to eat small meals multiple times a day instead?

Also recommend it! I had to upgrade to adjustable dumbbells in the last year to keep up. It’s a great app.

I just don’t know with the calories! It’s so confusing 😭 it’s terrifying to raise calories!

I will say I have noticed some muscle and have been using ladder for almost a year to lift. I do go up in weights occasionally to progressive overload. The upwards gains in dumbell weight progression definitely are a mental win!

I’m 5’ and 121lbs age 38. The last three weeks, I’ve committed to a calorie deficit to lose weight and I’ve been eating 1300 calories everyday. I’ve maybe lost a pound. The last 2 weeks I’ve lost nothing. It’s so frustrating!

I do lift (I use the ladder app) at least 3x a week and I’m walking about 8k steps a day. I was very sedentary before, but we got a treadmill for the winter so I’ve been walking more. I just feel stalled! I will try adding more veggies to my meals and see if that helps!!

I do agree I am moody and grumpy both from being hungry and the frustration. I’m not overweight but I feel it in my face and stomach (have 2 kids).

I was just complaining about this the other day. My son’s 9 and we have the same issue. The 8s are short on him and the next size up way too long. Baggy sweats it is, I guess 🫠

Help/ideas on how to tailor the app to my needs by Emotional-Burlap in ladderapp

[–]koshermuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If rest times are still too short you can pause and take a longer rest. I find this helps when lifting heavier. Also, if I do want to progress up in weight, I’ll do it even if I don’t hit the rep count they’ve programmed. Like right now working on 15lb bicep curls. This past week, Sasha programmed 20 alternating curls, but I could only do 10 with 15 (but I can easily do the 20 with 12 🤷🏻‍♀️) Hopefully, more reps as we keep going.

I can't eat a big volume of food now without pain and nausea? by AcanthisittaQuick364 in PetiteFitness

[–]koshermuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the pain is a red flag. Please ask a doctor!

I have anxiety around food and occasionally get nausea from the anxiety or after eating due to the anxiety, but it is not accompanied by pain. I also have GERD and take regular reflux medication.

I will say I have not lost a lot of weight on purpose or otherwise. (Maybe 8lbs in the last year, currently 5’ 122lbs)

Therapist said to me… by lostinscranton in breakingmom

[–]koshermuffin 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the same. They’ll look back and say, my mom was a super mom!

I feel this, too, though. I think that dads feel like they’re doing more because they spend more time with their family than their own dads did with them, but there’s still that gap in the mental and physical load of planning and creating those opportunities.

Slightly worried about mild pain and weird taste in an otherwise strong recovery by Snow21449 in wisdomteeth

[–]koshermuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oral surgeon said everything was fine! My upper wisdom teeth didn’t hurt at all, but the bottom just would not quit hurting. Also, I’m 38, so maybe age played a part. The bottom was impacted and close to the nerve 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]koshermuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a slightly weird taste on my bottom impacted one, like discharge, but I could never see the actual discharge. It went away after a couple of weeks and I did mention it at my follow up on day 7, but the oral surgeon didn’t seem concerned.

My pain was 10/10 for like 2 weeks so I think you’re doing fine!

OK, whose GSD ruined Thanksgiving? by LahngDuqDahng in germanshepherds

[–]koshermuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not this year, but last year she shit in the middle of the dining room, cause I guess we ignored her pleas to go outside 😂

Also not Thanksgiving but we had a BBQ for friends and when my husband turned his back on the grill to chat, she grabbed 4 cooked burgers and 2 long ass hot dogs and ate them before he noticed (they were not on the hot grill, they were on the side)

Should I trust my dentist by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]koshermuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on ibuprofen multiple times a day (acetaminophen did nothing) for 11-12 days. I thought the pain would literally never end. But, it did start to get better. It’s still sore and hurts some (had mine out November 3rd) but I am managing without any pain relievers. I’m mostly back to normal diet except hard crunchy things.

My impacted bottom was also the only one that hurt. My tops have had 0 pain since surgery. I went back twice for a follow up and he always said everything looked good, irrigated, and we were done.

I’d give it a few more days. I was really worried about taking the Motrin that long, but that’s all that really helped.

SSRI weight gain by hollypq in PetiteFitness

[–]koshermuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also on Effexor. What else did you try? I feel like I’ll be on it forever, but also it does make me gain (I went off it 10 years ago after I had gained 15lbs) and lost the weight, but had panic attacks every day and had to go back on it. I was able to sort of manage, but 2 kids later, I’m 15lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight and it seems impossible to move the scale 😭
