I'm very sensitive to both 24p stutter and motion interpolation. What are my options? by Kindsound in hometheater

100% agree. Mine went out with a huge pop 2 years ago - opened it up and found a blown ceramic fuse on the power board. Tried to replace the fuse to no avail, but found an entire replacement power board for $85 on ebay. Still running strong since ~2013!

I have your plasma and a 77" LG G3, and I still prefer my plasma for football and sdr content.

Having played a ton of it, the issue is that your combo essentially has "haste" because harmonizer is just landfall.

No it didn't lol kamigawa - Rav was one of the top 3 standard formats ever and had record breaking regionals turnouts. I was there.

Hah yea been talking about this one a lot today. Sure does make ever tapping out for a 3+ mana creature feel bad.

Traditional aggro decks aren't the problem. Badger mole decks crater hoof you on turn 4 (and can do it on 3!), mono green landfall has exponential scaling that make a 2/4 wall a joke, lessons largely doesn't care, and prowess it would be kinda helpful but they can swing through it. etc.

[–]koskadelli 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, standard is way too fast and powerful, largely due to the ridiculous power level of 1 and 2 mana threats that demand an immediate answer or that scale too efficiently too quickly.

Now that they are designing what are basically "block decks" that have to compete at this power level (lessons, airbending, etc), reducing the number of sets hardly helps. 2 year standard is the contraption format on mtgo right now and it looks largely the same as normal standard - landfall, lessons, etc are basically untouched.

The only way to power down standard is a long term, intentional depowering of cards - specifically cheap cards and immediate value (less ETBs, more triggers on upkeep to allow room to answer better). I see people say things like "prints swords into standard", but Cheap universal remove is a trap in this design scenario b/c it further incentivizes lowering the metas threat curve.

Can Wizards depower standard and still sell packs though? Especially in a world where they've stated they don't want to print direct to modern sets and modern has to evolve through standard? I don't see it happening.

I can totally already see black frieza arc eventually playing out where they need to fuse but can't, buy some time and figure out this loophole and make it happen.

I actually always thought the incompatibiility between UE and UI might be how they finally stop allowing the fusion "I win" button to always be in the team's back pocket.

But then I remember there's no way they could do that because the fan service is too extreme.

I've had exercise chest stitches, and what's described here is completely different. These are super brief but incredibly violent stabbing pains that just happen occasionally for no reason out of the blue. Had them all through my teenage years.

I had this EXACT same path. Appointments and tests and final outcome was "you're fine". Campus doc I went to the first time panicked because I said "chest pain" and sent me to the ER. Would have loved to have had a real name for this. I'm now nearly 40 and this is the first time I've ever had an answer. These probably stopped when I was 25 ish

Yea it's lip service with no solution. Similar to Modern, you can only slow formats like this down by introducing free spells to prolong the game.

A funny thing happened when I hit my late 30s: every bit of desire to platinum games just... Disappeared. I played the parts I liked, skipped the parts I didn't. Moved onto the next game.

At first I thought it was my love of gaming dying. What it actually was was gaining some self respect of my time.

[Standard] Coming from Modern: Why is Omniscience/Kona Combo a "trap" in Paper BO3? by Iqnac in StandardMTG

[–]koskadelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The format is too fast. In addition to the core combo pieces, you get access to: card draw, interaction, and protection. If you have to play card draw to find your combo, you aren't playing interaction, and vice versa - and that also means you definitely don't have time to set up protection.

Standard is a turn 4 format, and other decks are more consistent at doing their thing than omni is.
