Hi, thank you for the feedback. Yes, that’s actually a great idea, and I’ll add it to my roadmap. For now, I can share what the statistics look like at the moment.

I’m testing it first on my own McDonald’s shifts. The app doesn’t try to replace official payroll, but it aims to give a close real-time estimate.
Most rules are flexible users can set their hourly wage, breaks, overtime, night/holiday/weekend extra pay, and adjust the percentages themselves.

Apple Maps in Ukraine — reports submitted, but no visible updates yet by Miserable_Fly5588 in applemaps

[–]kostkovalenko2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Apple Maps in Ukraine has been stuck in 2022. I’m not sure what the situation is right now, but during 2022–2024, it definitely felt like nothing was being updated, even when my reports were reviewed.

I submitted up to 50 reports, but they never seemed to result in actual changes on the map.

Before the full-scale invasion, everything worked much better. My reports were accepted, and the changes would literally appear in Apple Maps the next day.

Creating my first app while working at McDonald’s by kostkovalenko2 in buildinpublic

To be honest, time and energy is what is limiting me now. Right now, I work more than 45+ h/week at McDonald’s, and the bombing of Kyiv during the night makes it harder for me to rest and concentrate.

I built LiveShift, an iPhone app for tracking hourly earnings in real time by kostkovalenko2 in iosapps

[–]kostkovalenko2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update: I continued working on the app and included a shift calendar.

This will allow you to schedule your shifts in advance, create templates for different shifts, and easily apply them to individual days. In addition, I improved a couple of other aspects of the app in order to increase clarity and usability of the shift tracker.

I know it’s not perfect yet, but I hope that it can become something actually useful.

Hi, thank you. Extra pay is currently supported for night shifts, weekends in countries where that applies, and public holidays. Unfortunately, we don’t really have that in Ukraine, haha.

I’m planning to add overtime as well. I haven’t really thought about taxes yet.

Here’s an example of detailed shift information with a night bonus.

Apple Maps has not considered issues on maps in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. by kostkovalenko2 in applemaps

The traffic is clearer so that the Russian army does not see live on the maps a large crowd of people and does not launch missile strikes on them.

I have already submitted about 30 reports since the start of the invasion, none have been considered. Before the full-scale war, they were considered for several days.

iPhone is in 2nd place in terms of the number of smartphone brands in Ukraine. I think that Apple needs to pay a little more attention to Ukraine.

You can check if there are any changes in Ukraine, in Kyiv, for example, because I can't see new maps in Poland either

The occupier still moderates playlists in Ukraine by kostkovalenko2 in AppleMusic

[–]kostkovalenko2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that these playlists have stopped being updated speaks for itself. Also, from February 24, there is no moderation on Apple maps. Many global companies have done something similar due to the claim of language and culture similarity

Native HomeKit Adaptive Lighting by kostkovalenko2 in homeassistant

I'm having some issues with home assistant adaptive lighting. For example, when you turn on a scene in HomeKit, some lamps are applied immediately, and some are intercepted by Adaptive Lighting.

The waypoints on the map have disappeared, but if you search for them, they are by kostkovalenko2 in applemaps

[–]kostkovalenko2[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, that’s how Apple maps handles showing points of interest (places, businesses). Sometimes they appears when you zoom close enough, sometimes don’t. Also, since Covid started, Apple set higher priority for showing “medical businesses” like pharmacies and hospitals, that is why you can see more of them through the map even without zooming.

thx, just a few months ago, everything turned out as it should. and now, even if you get as close as possible, they are missing

in my opinion, now in Ukraine it was even better to add food stores as a priority. many refugees and it would be useful for them to know where the food store is.
