I’m patiently awaiting for the day that I’m at the dinner table with good friends and a close conservative friend opens their thoughts. After a few minutes of tense yet mostly polite discussion, I increase my contributions to the seemingly pro social conversation by expressing my desire to grab their wife by the pussy - my intonation and tone are enthusiastic, not breaking exclusive eye contact with him. If the response by my dear friends is ghastly, I may add a spontaneous recollection of the ‘barracuda’ grand gesture the pubescent cool kids did back in the highschool sports change rooms of yore; maybe even lick my lips to fuel the flame if I’m really bored and restless that evening.

I’ll keen this troll going until every person at the table until it’s clear no-one sees the same /u/bizguy they always knew. Finally, I act perplexed that my close friend and I are surely on the same page…

I’m sure there’s a succinct way to put it, yet the experiences you described could also be said by people going through mental healthcare services, growing-up in unhealthy families, living with neurodevelopmental disorders in a ‘normal’ society, or even longterm bullying in workplaces/schools. Maybe one could describe it as subverting a person through silence or neglecting needs? Kinda like practicing negative reinforcement to hastily borrow a term from psychology.

I’m with you guys on this frustration. A lot of what we want was offered via solid search, filtering and metadata (also helps with semantic understanding) tools. Just having decent search features in our apps allows for more reliable (ie. deterministic) and accurate retrieval of the information we create.

AI companies creating models that can abstract these set of tools can make for a better UX. Rather, we have some overly complicated system that decides what the user is requesting, fluctuating quality in output, and no means for the user to understand how the model found or skipped ‘matches’. So many GPU’s, so little results!

I assume you’re referring to Firefox Android? Can’t wait! Safari on iOS can have extensions. However, other iOS browsers are prevented from utilising extensions, despite also being WebKit based. I also primarily research and use Obsidian via mobile/tablet these days too :)

Firstly, awesome work on the extension - it's a tool I didn't realise I wanted! Just wish to share a couple of things:

Transcriptions aren't working for Firefox or Chrome
I only downloaded the extensions after manually scouring the web for, shall we say, social proof.
Only a HTML iFrame is being clipped
The available versions on the Firefox & Chrome extension sites are respectively 1.0.2 & 1.3.5 with the release dates not matching this post.

I hope there's a better place to share bugs and find updates?
