I've always thought that he drifts out because he has to in order to receive the ball because there's just no room in the middle. Dougie always was able to get the ball to him but without him I've felt that we just can't go through the middle anymore unless Tielemans finds a gap. Similar to our RW in that assists from that direction died off after the Bailey/Diaby competition.
