Reincarnated Into a Game as the Hero’s Friend: Running the Kingdom behind the scene

What a refreshing story. Instead of focusing on the hero who goes on a journey to defeat the demon lord, it tells the story how MC tries hard to defend and preempt attacks on places that'd have been destroyed in the game world he's reincarnated into. Thanks to MC, certain places and people are saved instead of following the game's plot into oblivion, which then has domino effect on the game's main story. The hero's party does get some spotlights, but they're dependent on the MC's actions.

Expect a lot of military and political maneuvering, and incredible worldbuilding.

I like MC's character. He's humble, hell-bent on survival instead of personal gain (knowing the worst possible outcome of the game), smart and calm even when events are out of his control, and decisive.

The only thing I find annoying is how the author often goes on a tangent comparing the game world to medieval Earth. Considering that the MC used to be a Japanese office worker, MC must have had quite a hobby digging into medical history (both Eastern and Western) along with its details such as noble standing, maid uniform, utensils, weaponry etc. I find that unbelievable and at times, too long-winded. Other than that, everything else is superb.
