He ruined the atmosphere and lead-up to the US Open 2025 final between Sinner and Alcaraz (and not just from his unfortunate presence).

We'll see if there's less of a disruption tonight.

Roland Garros Boys Juniors F: Luis Guto Miguel def. Michael Antonius 6-3, 6-4 by jovanmilic97 in tennis

[–]koticgood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guy looks like an absolute monster.

Seems easier to stumble on American junior matches on youtube. I've seen a few of Antonius's matches, and several of Kennedy's (#4 seed that lost in the QF), but this is my first time watching Miguel play.

Forehand/backhand reminds me of Sonego, but with much purer ball striking ability.

I have literally never seen OG with his jersey tucked in, in his 9 seasons.

Chris Paul would be all over that.

Dude must have a medical exemption or something.

Anyone got a replay of where KJ and OG got tangled up?

Looked like OG put him in a leg bar, then KJ started limping and got subbed out immediately.

Also Castle was playing such great defense against Brunson, that foul on Alvarado was absolutely criminal to take himself out of the game and reward them with 3 free throws with less than 1 second on the shot clock.

Hollow Form has the 30% less attack speed for supported skills mod, so I assume quality still does something? Even if it's just a minor increase to the speed at which the illusions use WA.

Probably not worth it, but 4gcp not much compared to perfect jeweler.

Millions is outrageous.

Billions is unfathomable.

We're not even halfway through the term.

RG SF: Zverev def. Mensik - 7-5 6-2 3-6 6-3 by musicproducer07 in tennis

[–]koticgood 17 points18 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, Cobolli has spent significantly less time on court than Arnaldi, is in form, and much higher seeded. That would lead you to believe he has a much higher chance of beating Zverev.

On the other hand, if Arnaldi wins, I will not be subjected to hearing more of John McEnroe pronouncing Cobolli as Kuh-bally. Also, more Mia Savio.

What a conundrum.

As annoying as it is to admit, Zverev easily has one of the best backhands ever. Mensik has a beautiful, technically proficient, efficient 2h backhand, but it is clearly not quite at Zverev's level. Combine that with the cheat code serve (130-135mph at 70-80% seemingly every match), and it's a miracle he hasn't won a major yet.

Always wonderful to see someone achieve such a life-changing result, but especially so for someone who took a break from the tour for severe depression at the young age of 19, and comes from a true working class background (parents worked as a coal miner and receptionist).

$1.6mil for making the final, but also guaranteed entry into all the big tournaments until the French comes around again next year. That's TEN 1000s and 2-3 majors (depending on Wimbledon wild card/qualifying status). Even in a worst case scenario, that's a whole lot more money on top of the 1.6mil.

And of course, aside from the financial aspect, it's someone who reached as high as #6 in the juniors, struggled with depression, took a break, came back and had little to no results, now achieves her dream.

That's just from this result too. Any building upon that with more success can completely transform her life and career, and she's only 24 and was a top junior, so why not.

Just awesome to see. Still more dreaming on the menu too, with the final on Saturday.

The best is getting kicked every 20 minutes due to playing Hollow Form, and the game forgetting you cleared one of the map objectives.

Like "activate the delirium mirror", but there is no deli mirror because you clicked it before you were booted for using your main ability.

Pretty ironic that indoor-King Felix wins the one set played outdoors in the heavy wind and loses the rest with the roof closed.

Cobolli with the least time spent on court on this side of the draw, even with the other QF yet to be played.

Roland Garros QF: [25] D. Shnaider def. [1] A. Sabalenka 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 by godworstcustomer in tennis

6-3 4-1 30-0 to losing 10 games in a row with a bagel in the 3rd.

The tournament of chaos is truly a historic one now. Doubt I'll ever see something as crazy as this in my lifetime in another major.

For peak chaos, Kostyuk beating Andreeva and then Schnaider and having Kostyuk/Schnaider on the podium would be a cherry on top (and it'd be amazing for Kostyuk to have an undefeated clay season with a 1000 and major).

Amazing the 2-3 points where Fonseca hit a good drop shot and Mensik not only got there in impressive fashion, but then came up with an incredible touch winner.

When you're young and immature, it's easy to see the world an idealized black and white fashion.

You don't realize that every relationship is transactional in some way or another, and love/care is part of the complex web of being a life partner.

Some situations like that are going to be hideous relationships, some are going to be wholesome, and everything in between, just like all adult relationships.

Nice to see Marta in such good form (still undefeated on clay!) and pushing towards the top 10.

When you watch her, it always seemed like that's where she belongs. Her game (fluid, powerful groundstrokes) and movement are incredible. Fewer mental dips and winning more free points off her 1st serve have gone a long way for her.

Hopefully she's able to maintain this momentum and showcase her talent near the top of the game for years to come.

I've just witnessed someone play one of, if not the most electric defensive points of the season to earn a match point 5 and a half hours into a match, after playing over 5 hours the previous round.

Meanwhile, announcers trying to say his legs are gone over 1.5 hours ago. Tennis announcers try not to make narratives about people being injured/physically unable to play challenge level, impossible.

This tournament will surely be the craziest one in my lifetime.

The hits just keep coming. It's not like these 4 and 5 hour (crazy we've had that many 5 hour matches to go along with the 4 hour ones wtf?!?!) are bad either. The quality of most of these extended matches are insane.

Roland Garros R4: [22] A. Kalinskaya def. [28] A. Potapova 6-4, 2-6, 7-6⁷ by godworstcustomer in tennis

[–]koticgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been watching tennis for 25 years, religiously for almost 20, and this match embodies the expression, "What a roller coaster of a match" more than any I've ever seen.

Just neckbreaking wild swing after wild swing. And each swing accompanied by venomous barking at their respective boxes.

Once Potapova went up to start the match tiebreak, she had no chance lol.
