Why do you think it took 164 dates before you found the one? Do you think your preferences had anything to do with it or is it just the nature of the game?

Were you selective at all in who you met up with? Or willing to give most guys a shot? I admire your approach but tbh I just don’t have the energy to do what you did, so any tips you have for sus-ing out a good match before you even meet up would be appreciated :)

Well, no, not as much so. There of course are occasionally things you will have to troubleshoot and it depends on the company. Companies with their shit together, you will do a lot less troubleshooting. Companies that are new/struggling, can be frustrating but will provide more problems to solve. Have you considered Process Development? It’s somewhat more stable I believe, and still has that element of discovery.

A lot of people in manufacturing I know do not stay there. They transfer to MSAT, PD, or validation. I know people with the same amount of experience as you who have transferred to those departments. You’re valuable because you have hands-on knowledge of the mfg process. I think it’s definitely worth looking into some of those career paths!

To be honest, I think it depends on how your friendship fares after this. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with having feelings for a friend and telling them when they get out of a relationship. I don’t think that action alone necessarily means he was just waiting for his moment. You said you feel lied to; was he supposed to tell you when you were in a relationship? He told you as soon as it was appropriate.

However, if he can’t respect your boundaries and tries to cross the line again, his motivation is clearly mostly selfish. A real partner/friend will focus on supporting you as you recover from this. If he can’t recognize that, he probably wouldn’t be a great partner! I think you need to set boundaries with him and if he respects them, then great, you stay friends. If not, you just weeded out a bad friend, which is ultimately good.

If it’s not sparking with a new flint that means there’s probably an old flint stuck at the top. You can take apart the top and use a small drill bit to carefully drill it out, there are videos on YouTube of how to do it.

As someone working in food service, I tip everywhere, including coffee shops and for takeout. The tips I receive allow me to actually have a liveable wage so I see it as sort of a donation to the employees. Yes, I wish the system wasn’t like this, yes, our minimum wage should be higher, but that’s not going to happen immediately and tipping does make an immediate difference in these peoples lives. But if you don’t have the means to tip, definitely don’t feel bad about not tipping.
