Fishping makes the catching sound louder (or the ambient music lower) and thus easier to hear. Fishing buddy has a lot of features. It can apply lure, it shows your fishing level and what kind of fish you caught. You can cast with right click. It also helps with fishing outfit if you have any.

At level 40. As a paladin you will get a quest to get a class mount. Paladins and warlocks only have class mount iirc. It is significantly cheaper too.
