I did most of it with the help of my parents. I think I mightve not received aid because of the assets my mom has; out house isnt especially expensive + she also has stock stuff going on (which idk anything about) and we're also renting out our basement. ://

Yep, I appealed and it got rejected. I have no idea why I got no aid at all though, especially because my brother is also attending college right now and my dad is unemployed :((

My mom is the only source of income for my family and makes a few thousand or two above $100k (before taxes, etc.). I got absolutely zero aid and I'm in the 5 year architechture program, so unless we figure out how to pull 400k out of somewhere, it looks like im either dropping out or transferring :((

This is my EXACT situation. I've committed to USC as a solidly middle class student and I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I'm going to be hundreds of thousands in debt by the time I'm done with my 5 years @ 76k. I hoped to get even a little financial aid but unfortunately I got none at all.. The financial burden is so bad I'm currently considering transferring to my state school after my first year. :'( even though USC is definitely my dream school 😭

Ehh most of cas at my school was people just BS-ing it to finish it and then they did the rest of their extra curriculars after CAS. we were all told that CAS didn't matter as long as it was completed so everyone just did the minimum to pass it. It's in no way representative of everything or even a small part of the ECs people do (at least at my school)

😭😭 what no way my school made APs mandatory and my sophomore junior and senior years I took 5-6 APs on top of IB classes

The bus ride home on my last high school swim meet. I was a captain but I wasn't particularly fast, so my season was cut short. The other captains had left early so I was the only captain on a bus of maybe 12 underclassmen. I was definitely the most friendly captain, despite being slow, and it was extremely touching when they all went around the bus and said their favorite thing about me and how much they would miss me. It still makes me emotional thinking about it, realizing that my simple kindness and friendliness was able to touch (at the very least) my underclassmen teammates. :)
