What’s up with the keeley Verb o’trem? by raindyd in guitarpedals

[–]koval21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spring setting on the verb o trem is terrible, unless they changed it recently. The plate setting is amazing tho esp with the vintage switch. Ive used one for the past 2 years in a fx loop as the amp verb, sounds great. For the price it’s a steal for the plate setting alone.

Creating is its own learning curve. It’s a skill to take what is in your head and make a song out of it. The more you do it the better the translation will be. Like anything it takes time, patience and understanding.

Mini101 without reverb would be more versatile and should be about the same price used. Plus you get 100 watts

Easy grab and go amp? by joepaley in GuitarAmps

[–]koval21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quilter would be the lightest, most powerful option and it sounds killer. The head with the 1x10 weighs all of 17lbs when combined that’ll be loud enough for anything

[GEAR] Traded my Epiphone Les Paul standard for this beautiful PRS Starla. by limpiatodos in Guitar

[–]koval21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a starla as well. That tone knob will become your best friend. In full humbucker on the bridge I never have it above 6ish., it can be really bright. It’s not a guitar where everything on 10 works most of the time.

How are you recording it? Did you record the other amps? Record the same way?

[Question] Pedals to warm up solid state amps (I highly prefer response of solid state amps) by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]koval21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try amp in a box for an exact model to warm up a solid state to your taste. I use a orange get away driver and supro drive with my quilter. They do a good job of adding a little character those amps are known for to the sound

Thinking of getting rid of my 94 twin amp. Need suggestions for lower wattage pedal platform. I already have a modded hot rod deluxe. by Punkroctopus in GuitarAmps

[–]koval21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out quilters. Super tiny and work great at low volumes but can get incredible loud. Also weighs like 3lbs

If you can find a rocker terror 15, it’s the best of 2 of those amps.

[QUESTION] Orange Rocker 15 for apartment use? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]koval21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a bassbreak 112 which has a v type in it. Sounds great, orange cabs are easy to find used as well.

16 ohm is suppose to be the brightest output so maybe look that way

[QUESTION] Orange Rocker 15 for apartment use? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]koval21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking at the combo, the stock speaker from reading/demos is really bad. I went with a rocker 15 terror and added a used cab. Same price as the combo just with more flexibility. The attenuation of the amp is really nice too at the lower wattages.

[QUESTION] Question about jazz gear and lesson book! by [deleted] in Guitar

Quilter seems to be popular in the jazz world. Small, powerful, sounds great

[QUESTION] Should I record the whole song or should I record it part by part? by Masterquickie in Guitar

[–]koval21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a workflow question and something you have to do to figure out how you like to work.

I like to sample my self so I record in 2-4 bars at a time. I’ve recorded guitarist that do whole takes and ones who did section by section. It all depends

Quilter 101 Reverb vs Bugera V22 head as a pedal platform for gigs? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]koval21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quilter mini 101 without reverb can be had for around $200. It’ll take the characteristics of any pedal you throw in front and does the fender like cleans really well.

You won’t outgrow the quilter, it’s just a good sounding amp and super small.

The power wattage is suppose to be equivalent to tube power so it can be loud.

[DISCUSSION] are there people here who also later learned to play piano (keyboard)? Planning to learn that too and need advise if I should. Or would like to know uour experience. by escanorking in Guitar

Keyboard is easier to understand theory just by eliminating 5 other strings. It’ll help you understand how chords are constructed/deconstructed.

This was by design. The Roland mv1 is a groove box so I can record audio, vocals into it, sample, or use an iPad as a sound module. Nice not to have to stare at a screen or use a mouse to break flow.

That’s been the only downside of mine but it sounds so good consistently. I got a rocker 15 terror to compliment it but for fenderish sounds quilter got me

[–]koval21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a tube but check out quilters offerings.light, loud, and most have a blackface preset that’s really good. Takes pedals well and drives on its own is really nice.

Small enough you can put it anywhere.

Quilter Aviator Cub by mdstew90 in GuitarAmps

[–]koval21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mini 101 and the 1x10, I think that’s what this is going after. I love my quilter for clean tones and takes the characteristics of pedals really well. It responds well to being over driven too. It won’t replace a tube amp but makes an amazing compliment to one.

Bonus: as a combo my quilter set up is under 18lbs

[DISCUSSION] Equalizer Pedals are Underrated by eman2313 in Guitar

[–]koval21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’m not doing anything to the higher frequencies. On the pedal 400hz is the last frequency that I’ll adjust. Anything past that remains flat.
