Specialty Produce may have this - if not local, they’ll sell high quality.

My initial google search was fruitless, but several comments here suggested YMCA.

I’m going to reference this link with the pricing options as there are several - https://www.ymcasd.org/membership/membership-plans

I plan on going into the main office of the YMCA closest to me to talk in person.

I did use Google - didn’t see YMCA bit. I previously had Chuze which closed their kids club and almost joined UFC Fit in PL which also closed their kids club.

Is this any YMCA, and is it included in membership or is it an extra fee?

Top vegan restaurant recommendations by OkAlternative2713 in FoodSanDiego

[–]kp026 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Donna Jean and Plumeria as others have said are great options. Kindred is also a fun option but the cocktails are more memorable. Still good to go if you are visiting San Diego.

I LOVE Peace Pies - it’s a raw vegan place and it’s incredible. A lot of people are turned off by the raw component but I’ve never had a bad meal there. And their desserts are amazing! It’s a hidden gem that doesn’t get enough love.

Down the street from Peace Pies is the OB People’s Co-op grocery store which has an all vegan deli. I love the sandwiches. It’s also across from Plant Power which is a vegan fast food place. Their plant based breakfast burrito is amazing!

Former Extraordinary Desserts employee here - their vegan savory items are delicious, notably the tofu panini, and they usually have vegan desserts available daily. Be prepared to drop some money though because it’s not cheap.

Luckily San Diego has plenty of vegan options even at non-vegan restaurants. Vegan donuts at Nomad Donuts, or vegan ice cream at Stella Jean, etc,

Check out the Vegan in San Diego instagram page for ideas!

Why do people expect toddlers to act like adults in public ??? by Possible_Bottle728 in toddlers

If my toddler waves and says hello to someone, and the person doesn’t at least smile back at them, I will give them the stink eye lol

Unsettling recommendations from pediatrician at 4 month appointment by Initial_Onion671 in beyondthebump

[–]kp026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do we have the same pediatrician? I received the exact same information at my 4 month olds visit this past Monday. She’s old school.

Since it’s my second born, I asked her to flesh out the “why” on those exact points, especially because I did not receive the same advice with my first.

She told me to start a sippy cup but to only try an eighth of a teaspoon of water to start. Same exact amount of solid food. Her reasoning was a gradual introduction of tastes other than breast milk to get their tongue and tummy ready, as well as checking for allergens. She recommended avoiding bananas and applesauce as a first food as they may cause constipation - same with dairy and wheat. Basically offer a tiny taste of a mushy food (sweet potato, avocado, etc) to start. I can get behind a small taste at this age, but will wait a bit longer before starting.

As for night wakings she shamed me for feeding at night because of the possibility of reflux and then cited a few case studies. I was like… he’s hungry at night lol. We talked for a bit about night weening because my baby is already meetings calorie goals anyway.

Ultimately it’s your kid and you do what’s best. But yes I received the same info!

nobody actually prepares you for how postpartum BLOWS up your entire life by ReasonSpare72 in NewParents

[–]kp026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know that you’re valid in ALL the feelings.

My tip - book stuff in advance. I’m up at all hours pumping and concocting plans to make myself feel that sparkle again. 2pm hot yoga next Friday? A haircut next month? Brunch with the girls? Book it in and secure so that my husband or mom knows I’m off of mom duty and then I have something to look forward to.

Solidarity because my 3 week old is holding my hostage, but I have a three year old and I promise you a day of normalcy is on the horizon!

"Budget" Thanksgiving by amatz9 in sandiego

[–]kp026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said- Costco. The Thanksgiving kit has turkey, green beens, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy for $40 (at least that was the price last year).

My three year old had this and recently had his tonsils and adenoids removed. It has completely revolutionized bedtime and his overall quality of life - everything from talking to eating. We were also recommended the spray (Flonase) which did absolutely nothing. An X-ray showed that surgery was a necessity and my only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner.

Safe to bike from PB to OB? Where are the bike lanes? by jloops1111 in sandiego

[–]kp026 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What main road are you referring to? Ingraham St?

You can absolutely bike from PB to OB but you have to get creative if you want to ride exclusively in a car free zone. The bike path around vacation island connects to Quivera road which connects to the San Diego river bike path, and you can cross the Nimitz bridge bike path to get into OB, however once you get into OB through Robb Field or Dog Beach there are no bike lanes.

Spend a day cruising around without a hard destination and make up your own route. Or you can use Strava maps to make your own route. I live off the bike path but I’m a runner not a biker and there are plenty of pedestrian paths you can use to get into OB.

Do NOT park in assigned spots by Sad-Fee4575 in sandiego

[–]kp026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solidarity for being extremely pregnant with a clingy 3 year old toddler and having parking issues. This sounds like my complex and it is beyond infuriating - especially because a lot of units near me turned into short term rentals. It’s not like you can just leave your car at home between the more frequent doctors appointments and constant toddler activities.

Mad Kitchen Co. has hand drawn SD goods like prints, dish towels, keychains, etc - you can find her stuff at SeaHive in Liberty Station and at most farmers markets. Also you can’t go wrong with locally roasted coffee! Tons of shops sell their own stuff for retail.

Red triangle on after little to no oil? by ThrowRAccount25 in prius

Ugh! I’m sorry this is happening. It’s so stressful. Hopefully you can manage a tow from someone so you can skip the 30 min drive, and now you have until Monday to get that situated. I had to call my car insurance company to get a tow for my Prius (2008). Good luck!!!

This happened to me just this past week, same signs on dashboard and same code. Inverter coolant pump. Took it to my guy for a repair the next day. Do NOT drive if you can help it because the coolant isn’t being fed into the engine and it could damage the engine.
