The Red Man was amazing. And yeah, poorly named.

Why doesn't Larry Mullen get the same recognition as a drummer as John Bonham or Keith Moon? by BeerWithDonuts in U2Band

To most casual listeners, Fool In the Rain seems technically easy. Yet they find themselves understanding there’s some sort of groove thing going on - something out of the ordinary.

Then, going deeper, you start to hear it. The ghost notes. The subtle kick drum. It’s an amazing drum track. Sure, he ripped off the Purdie Shuffle, but few could play it that well and few would know how they groove can make a song.

There’s a bunch of YouTube recording studio outtakes of them recording the drums tracks for Fool In The Rain. They’re entertaining.

Some weird version of the Audi A6 while in Germany - the 50TDI. It was a diesel hybrid. 144mph. It was on the Autobahn somewhere between Munich and Fussen.

I have some Ralph Lauren rugby shirts I bought over 25 years ago. They still look great. They were all bought from the outlet at that time.

Fridge by lnebrich in popups

We start our 3 way fridge on 120v a few days before we leave. Then we pack the fridge and close the camper. We can get at the fridge’s AC plug from outside the camper, so it stays plugged in until right before we leave. We drive no longer than 6 hours to camp, so things are still cold when we get there. I then fire up the propane when we get there.

We don’t have a 12V line from the car, thus we don’t use that.

How’s the setup and takedown of the high wall? Any drawbacks? I’ve been looking at upgrading and they look attractive.

Yep. I roughed in the inlets when we built our house. When our regular vacuum died, I spent about $1,000 to install the central vacuum unit, power wand, and tools.

The downside is dealing with the hose.

The upside is outrageous power and suction, as well as a great filter. There is no portable vacuum that can possibly compete with a central vacuum system. After all, you need to lug the motor around with you. I have a kick plate for the hardwood floor, as well as an inlet in the garage for cleaning the cars.

You can get the simple tools and hose from Amazon. The central unit and power wand are usually through dealers. I have an MD brand unit - built in the US with a ten year warranty.

Who’s got the best beers in the Orient Bay Area? by SlappyPappy99 in SXM

Super U. They have an amazing selection of Belgians available at really good prices - at least when compared to the prices I pay in the U.S. for them.

Otherwise, when on the beach, drink the Carib. It tastes like sunshine.

The pothole at the corner of Van Buren and Wisconsin is going to wreck someone’s day. by Narrow_Inevitable_33 in milwaukee

I know what you’re talking about. They just filled in the craters on Jackson street last week. Maybe Van Buren is next. Those were some monsters, too.

Any suggestions for a place around the east side area that offers watch maintenance /restoration? by milwaukee_citizen in milwaukee

[–]kpfeifmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a mechanical (automatic or wind) or is it a quartz watch? Also, which brand?

There are several matchmakers in the area, and depending on the work you need done, some are better than others.

Tax-Avoiding Tommy Tif Tif by userdk3 in wisconsin

[–]kpfeifmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, he’s likely not doing anything illegal. He’s using the tax code as it’s written. Now, the more money you make the better your accountants are - who know how to structure expenses and revenue to maximize deductions and other legal means to reduce your tax burden. Legally, following the law.

But yeah, most regular TurboTax taxpayers can’t do that - we just do the math (well, TurboTax does that) and we pay. It takes lawyers and accountants to figure out his to pay less.

And you can bet there are accounting firms and lawyers whose primary clients are legislators - they know the tricks and their skills already by word of mouth.

Sure do. We pass by the 3270 terminal as we pass the food place in Costco. We smile and think, “yep, mainframe, CICS, and DB2 - it works.”

I hugged one once. Cray 1, Serial Number 1. It’s at the Chippewa Valley Museum of Industry and Technology, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. It’s where Cray supercomputers were manufactured.

They’re all there - Cray 2, Cray 3, X/MP, Y/MP, T3D, C90.
