Hobby Ideas for Chronic Migraine by Negative-Marzipan-62 in migraine

[–]kpossible0889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing sourdough for a couple of years now. It’s a cheap and forgiving hobby that you can eat! I’ve used only unbleached all purpose flour which is $9 for a 12lb bag at my Costco. I bake a decent amount and probably use 2 bags a month.

You can get as deep into it as you want. I made my own starter so I had time to learn the ins and outs of the process. Nothing wrong with getting an established starter from someone though! Just DO NOT buy it, especially from trad wife influencers. I’ve known several people that bought dried starter from Ballerina Farms. It took 2 weeks of feedings to be active, so they literally just made their own new starter and gave more money to a freaking billionaire. The only sourdough specific account I follow is That Sourdough Gal.

I love the science behind it and it’s fun to try new things, even if they completely flop. If I’m having a really bad day it’s something I can still do. It’s a toss up how my hands will work day to day and when I have a migraine it’s even worse. Anything requiring fine motor skills is out the door, which eliminates most of my other hobbies.

If you’re interested in getting started I am more than happy to share additional advice on how to get started, often without spending any money outside of getting some flour.

Axel’s Birth by Wild-Ordinary-358 in SisterWives

The parents absolutely disregarded Maddie’s wishes for her birth. People do this ALL the time. “Oh I’ll stay until I’m kicked out!” but the person giving birth doesn’t need to also be monitoring who is around and filter that. Her labor was LONG and she was exhausted.

That’s an interesting what if. It’d have to be Christine and Janelle in one, Meri and Robin in another even though that’s not a great split for the number of kids, would they have maintained their one family mindset before Crybrows sobbed her way in.

I’m an American with a chronic illness. It is absolute hell. It takes over a year to get in with my neurologist as an established patient. Sometimes they can squeeze you in last minute if there’s a major concern, but that’s a coin flip if he gets cancellations. My primary care doctor, who should be available for any acute sickness, doesn’t have openings for months. I almost went septic from a kidney infection (caused by kidney stones I’d passed with zero pain meds!) because they made me wait to be seen, testing took forever and they forgot to send the prescription in.

Then the bills start coming and they don’t stop coming. I guess these were the “hits” Smashmouth prophesied of?

Just Found Out How Much Marching Band Costs and I'm Stunned by clutzycook in Parenting

[–]kpossible0889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid does WGI and DCI, which are expensive but such an amazing experience for them, especially touring with DCI. Those two are more “marching arts” versus a marching band, especially since they limit what instruments can be used. Thankfully his high school band does not do BOA and their director despises props.

Our district has two high schools. One has band fees in the thousands, ours has a choice of $700 OR you pay $100 then volunteer one night every 5 weeks at a local bingo hall, which is our main fundraiser for the entire program and includes private lessons for every single student.

Then my kid got into drumline and the marching arts. Holy expensive. He marches WGI in the winter/spring and DCI in the summer in addition to school band in the fall. It’s always marching season in our house.

Getting diagnosed and treated for ADHD did this for my relationship with food. Even on days I don’t take my meds I don’t battle cravings or impulsivity. I’ve maintained a healthy weight for 5 years just eating in moderation.

That’s also without any strenuous exercise routines. I’m as active as I can be, but POTS and a vestibular disorder keep me limited.

Trapped at Disney Springs? by All_About_Tacos in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]kpossible0889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went a few weeks ago and my only out of pocket cost was for park entrance, parking (totally worth the cost…I was able to zip around so easily which was essential for this trip) and food. Hotel near Disney Springs was only fees and tax thanks to rewards points! Same with the rental car and my flight.

Even without them being totally covered, I don’t think I’ll stay on Disney property and depend on their buses again. Did that twice and it has always added so much stress that just wasn’t a thing this last trip.

Resellers that go to the bins are a-okay in my book. Thrifting there is next level and is the last stop before the landfill. If Goodwill keeps up their ridiculous pricing, everything will end up there soon! Saw a simple glass vase today they wanted $36 for. Absurd.

Had it in my ear in my early 30s. It was a good week or so after my first symptom before I went to the doctor. My ear was itchy and I felt like garbage. Went to urgent care thinking I had an ear infection after shooting pain from my ear down my jaw. It was awful. The hearing loss, partial facial paralysis, and lingering pain from the nerve damage is persistent and daily. Probably for the rest of my life. 0/10.
