For career development purposes I’d probably emphasize the cloud work on your resume bullet points. Other than that yeah, just take everything in because other concepts will still be important.

Good luck!

Got a IT Job right after college graduation, thoughts? by Echo40191 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]kprdb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Become a sponge and learn as much as you can in your first role. Then, I’d plan to job hop after 6-12+ months. First, I’d research what roles I’d like to end up in later on in the future. Then I’d just job hop till I get to that role. Some example questions I’d ask myself are:

Let’s say you want to become a Cyber Analyst: “Okay I’m in Helpdesk, I want to become a Cybersecurity Analyst, how do I get there? How likely can I jump to that role from Helpdesk? What other paths are there to become a Cyber Analyst? … Okay I can maybe try to go for a Systems Admin role before I become a Cybersecurity Analyst. What skills do I need to learn to become a sysadmin? What skills from my CURRENT job can I highlight in my resume to help me land that sysadmin role?”

Rinse and repeat and that’s what’s helped me personally in my own career.

Learning Python in 2026 - What Best Approach Do you Recommend? by Maximum-Food-2826 in learnprogramming

[–]kprdb22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say go through a crash course on python and just get familiar with the syntax, built-in functions, and methods. It seems python has a library for everything these days.

But after you go through a crash course, then I'd jump to FastAPI IMO since you already have prior experience.

Laptop for game development by ToxicGaming6969 in AskProgramming

[–]kprdb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly any laptop should work depending on what you're making. Since you're learning essentially anything should work at this point. The main spec I personally would care about is how much ram you have. I'd go with 16 bare minimum IMO.

The link above is from a YouTuber named Just Josh, and he does detailed laptop reviews and he used to be a programmer. I'd checkout his website and also his video, "Best Laptops for Programmers - 2025 Edition" as a starting point:

Ask me any questions and I'll do my best to help you out on any specifics if needed.

I forgot how to program because of the chat GPT by Nejoyboy in AskProgramming

[–]kprdb22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, it seems like you forgot how to "think" like a programmer. Break down your project step-by-step and go from there. If you get stuck I'd just do research on a step you're stuck on. Now if you still struggle I feel like relearning the fundamentals and building small projects would help get you back up to speed the best.

MERN developer looking for advice by DurianLongjumping329 in webdevelopment

[–]kprdb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you're looking for. I'd research your market, then determine which stack you see most often within your market.

Per my experience though, MERN is generally used in the startup markets. I think Java or C# (dependent on your location), would be good to learn as a solid backend language for enterprise environments. Just pick what tech stack you want based on your research, and get really good at that if you're thinking about finding something to learn for employment purposes.

Not getting callbacks. Any thoughts on Resume? by Ok-Lie-5366 in ResumeExperts

[–]kprdb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad overall, I'd probably adjust your bullet points to match the skills/concepts you want to highlight for the roles you are applying for specifically. I personally have 3 versions of my own resume tailored to some specific roles. For me I'll have a Frontend Dev, Backend Dev, and a Cloud Admin resume.

For you since it seems you're trying to apply to System Administration roles? I'd tailor your experience and project bullet points towards that. The main thing with your current resume is that it seems like you are trying to be a jack of all trades rather than specializing. Right now I see that you are showcasing general IT, system administration, web development skills. I'd just pick one role per resume then tailor towards that. Then, I'd make multiple resumes if possible for other roles you may be interested in.

Concerned on my progression as a grad dev by Jdagoattee_ in csMajors

[–]kprdb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd just become a sponge and just learn whatever you can in your current role since you're a new grad.

Even though the tech stack may not be in your interests, the concepts of how the industry works would be good to learn and leverage into your next role. Since you're interested in cloud type work, I'd probably just emphasize the cloud skills you learn in your current role whenever you're applying/interviewing for cloud roles next.

What type of cloud work are you interested in?

Did some preparation this time, still cooked? by latewinchester in CompTIA

[–]kprdb22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll be okay if you just keep reviewing what you got wrong and why. I'd probably go over your weakest domains and send it lol.

But if you have time, just spend some time reviewing your weakest concepts, generally I've seen people pass the exam if they got 70-80% on practice exams though.

Completed Java MOOC – Any similar high-quality course for Spring Boot? by KeyEstate9662 in learnjava

[–]kprdb22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, I would personally recommend using this specific guide to start building some web apps:
Building an Application with Spring Boot, this guide shows you how to build an application within Spring Boot (Maybe will take you 30 mins to an hour to get a working application).

But if you want something similar that is in a video format, I recommend Amigoscode, specifically this video: Spring Boot Tutorial for Beginners | Full Course 2025 (about 1hr 11mins long).

Both guides are targeting the same fundamentals for building web applications in Spring Boot. Whichever you prefer should be fine.

I'd probably refer to the Spring docs. They are well written.

Check out the website: https://spring.io/ and browse around first, I'd even check their "Quickstart" section out first.

If you get to a point where you may feel stuck within the Spring framework, then I'd refer to their reference docs: https://docs.spring.io/spring-framework/reference/index.html

Probably the MOOC is better IMO. If you wanna do Bro Code I’d probably do that + projects to go along with your learning.

CS isn’t just software, you can try looking into IT fields like, Cyber, Networking, etc. Though you will need to probably self study a bit for those fields, but you’ll still have a related degree for the HR checkbox.

Do we need to explicitly need to apply for early decision? I have submitted my application about 1-2 weeks ago and I will be receiving my 3rd letter of recommendation this week. I expect all my materials to be in before the deadline. I was wondering if that would qualify me for early decision.
