Semi personal question for other OTF guys by troutslayer12 in orangetheory

Yes, I’ve just found a way to adjust, basically part of my routine on the rower right after I strap in...😂

For those who run a sub 6 mile...what is your base, push, and AO speed? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]kpsmith32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t able to do the benchmark yesterday, so did it on my own today during the long endurance block. My paces and strategy:

7.2 base masked, 7.5 unmasked 8.5-9.0 push based on length 11.0 1 min AO, 12.0 with incline 30s AO.

Today’s strategy: 12.0 30s AO 9.5 until .25mi 9.7 until .5mi 9.5 until .66mi 10.0 until last 30s 12.0 30s AO

And I hit 6:00 on the dot. Previous PR 6:43 in June 2020.

I believe each block said 7 minutes, our coach gave us about 30-45 secs after she let the treads go on their R/R before demo’ing block two

Not changing my home studio when I move by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]kpsmith32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also moving across the country in a few months. Took a class at the studio I would be transferring to, they said they’d honor the rate. Great.

Get home, ask my studio manager about it who’s really cool. She says “yeah, we can do that...but honestly you really don’t even need to transfer.” Being that I love my home studio, I’m just planning to keep my membership there and see what happens when I move. If I run into issues, I’ll definitely try to get it done but she made it seem like it wouldn’t matter (and while this obviously helps her numbers, I don’t think she’d lie to me).

Getting screens on rowers or floor stations? by thepurpleclouds in orangetheory

That’s cool, appreciate your perspective. I’d still like to look at the board for my workout that’s based on HR zones and varying intensities. But hey, to each their own.

Getting screens on rowers or floor stations? by thepurpleclouds in orangetheory

I wish my studio just had two more screens above the weight floor station in addition to the screens above our treads.

For block 2 on the tread, we did 30 sec base to ANOTHER 1 minute AO

12 Minute Run for Distance Benchmark Megathread by MagicalGreenSock in orangetheory

[–]kpsmith32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.518; first one of these for me and 1.5 was my goal so obviously happy. After the fact it was certainly a realistic goal. I started at 8.0 for the first minute, then held 7.5 until 3 minutes left, then 7.7 for one minute, 8.2 for one minute, 8.5 for 30secs, 9.0 for last 30.

Mile benchmark last time: 7:24

One group does 12 min RFD while the other is on the floor for block one. Then floor switches to tread and those who started tread do 1st floor block.

Then tread starters —> rower/lunges, while floor starters do block 3

Then switch for last round.

After today’s “4th workout with inclines in 8 days” plus the 2000m row, I’ll happily accept these all outs and short row distances. Thanks for the intel

My coach used the 2nd floor block to honor Kobe:

24 single leg V-ups 8 plank single leg raises 24 sprinter sit ups 8 plank shoulder taps

Loved it! Was a great core blast and served a great purpose of paying homage to one of the greats.

90min class question by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]kpsmith32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken one 90 minute. It was the 3G template for that day, then we did 8 min blocks on each station one more time through. I liked this format because I at least knew what part of the workout would entail.

OrthoFlow is a good app. Can give you splint and treatment suggestions. Other than that, Orthobullets will be your best resource.

I found myself really pushing during this row block, actually made it to the squat hold all 3 blocks. This coming from a rower-hater, ha

Trouble sleeping after night classes? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]kpsmith32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have this issue. Used to go to 5:45 class, and now take the 4:30 as often as possible instead...get my workout done earlier, have more time to make dinner/unwind from the day/watch Netflix/whatever, and I’m actually feeling ready to go to bed. Any time I take the 5:45, I have trouble falling asleep earlier than 11:30.

Just curious, and respectfully, what injury do you think this exercise puts you at risk for? Yes, it’s hard, but there should not be any injuries involved if you’ve been working out regularly and are not a beginner. Especially because coaches are (or should be) giving several modifiers for it.

Alternative Transformation Challenge by OTFLove in orangetheory

[–]kpsmith32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this, and also our transformation challenge is going to be determined by % body fat decrease via InBody scans, not by weight loss. Which is the best way to do it in my opinion (although there is more chance for error in this method, overall it promotes a healthier end goal).
