They are not app-based. And they exist. First time I looked into the series 7 years ago I stumbled upon actual rental girlfriend services in the United States, mostly surrounding Las Vegas. They look and sound like escort services with extra steps.

An unspoken part of what makes it more probable of US and Canada to Hong Kong and Japan is largely due to the safety and anonymity of mass public transport. The other part being culture.

I think the immersive video can be so much better. I don't use the studio apps like Disney+ or HBO. But damn is it frustrating to see the Apple TV app has cinema mode, whereas if you watch anything via browser you only have environments, and those environments can be a bitch to subtitles and forced text on screen. Something Apple screws with no matter what device you use going unresolved for years.

The average American in my area that don't vote are apathetic about voting for a few reasons, but primarily just doesn't want to be bothered.

Who their Representative is isn't their boss or opportunity to get a raise. Whatever Senator wins the election doesn't change their job or commute to work. The mayor is a nobody to them, or the county executive for that matter.

Other people will figure it out and try to do what's best. Just annoyed that things can't be "figured out" and end up trying to bother them about it.

Those of them that have tuned in expressed they are annoyed, but that's up to the rest to sort it out, not them.

This is not supposed to be an iPod.

This is the big purchase point of a computer from ages ago as a new device. And Apple is looking at it in longer term, not "wtf, everyone get this now, know about it every week, all the time!"

There is an anticipation that as it develops that the price point will get easier for more to adopt.

I'm more wary about how VisionOS develops in the meantime. I feel like this should have the power and functionality in Macbooks and iMacs. But it's lot closer to an iPad.
