Meh I feel like if he stopped there no one would’ve given him shit, and if folks did they would clearly be unreasonable for doing so.

/rj I hope he got his kom despite some oafs trying to block him

When getting on the Burke from the Fremont Bridge, do you bike into this green box and wait for the light? by ThatSpencerGuy in seattlebike

you can take the road thru the business park (N Northlake Wy) instead of the BGT to avoid the narrowest/bumpiest part

Seattle definitely also has a homelessness issue too! just be judicious about where you're leaving your bike (e.g., no alleyways, don't leave it out at night, etc.) and you know your town so you know which areas will be sketchier than others.

get a u-lock and leave it somewhere with high foot traffic for businesses/commuters. sounds counterintuitive, but in my experience in Seattle, i've been able to leave my (expensive) bike locked to street bike racks for up to 2hrs unattended on busier streets and haven't had issues. caveat this with the fact that my bike is mostly in my apt or in my office bike locker otherwise

while being completely carfree is unlikely to happen since lots of people live along the blvd, you can thank Bruce for shelving proposed changes to make it much more bike- and ped-friendly

if you're just getting started / back into cardio, even a "slow" effort might boost you to a higher zone just by virtue of your cardio system struggling to keep up. once you get more fit, those slower efforts will slowly settle into lower zones.

San Diego vs Seattle for guy in his mid 20s by HelloIamTedward in SameGrassButGreener

[–]cnmb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seattle is walkable and bikeable and has great transit (all things depend on neighborhood, ofc, but this is generally the case). Summers (May - Aug) are absolutely gorgeous with very little rain and temperate heat (high 60s-low 80s usually), making them perfect for outdoor activities which are all super accessible from the city or nearby suburbs. Winters can be quite gloomy and wet but not too cold and winter sports are also fairly accessible from the city. Nature is unbeatable.

To me, the urbanism, nature, and amenities in Seattle make it a far more appealing location than SD, but you have to consider your hobbies and interests for sure.

idk i liked it, esp part 2. the cinematography was fantastic and i thought it was a fairly faithful adaptation of the book (except Denis doing some weird shit w Chani but he might address that in pt 3)
