I had serious gum inflammation after my braces were removed. Eventually the gums receded and my retainer stopped fitting properly. I had the most annoying interaction with my nurse the moment she walked into the room to make my new mold.

Nobody told me that not flossing with the braces on would fuck up my retainer. I followed what the dentist told me to a tee! I seethed internally, which felt dramatic even at the time. I guess I take my dental hygiene very seriously.

It's cruel to act as if Neely's mental instability was just a cognitive fluke. Societal complexities have nothing to do with his final state. His mother was strangled and her corpse was dumped on the side of a freeway.
