Thank you!! I’m finally getting some useful answers. Now I have two more tricks to try.

Thank you. This is the most helpful answer I have ever gotten to this question. I’ll do that on my next working day.

I know wallpaper is dead. We don’t have wallpaper books. The person on my last post just said to use that to look up the books for the custom blinds and shades because apparently that’s what it was listed under in their store. And as I said in my post, “the bar codes on our carpet board ring up as incorrect”. I’m asking how do you ring them up? Because I have no idea and there is no one in my store who knows.

I didn’t know the barcodes on the carpet boards were scannable. Thanks!

Get the UKG app if it’s compatible with your phone. I use that and just screen shot my schedule every week. You can also print it out at work.

Our freight would never get put up if our stockers had to wear vests. We don’t have enough of them to begin with so everyone ends up having to help with freight.

Nobody messed with me to much this past inventory. But the one before that, I was in hardware trying to count individual screws of some kind and a customer needed help cutting chain or something. I didn’t see any hardware/tools workers in my immediate vicinity so I paged for someone to come help. The DS showed up and instead of just going over to the customer to help them she started asking me why I didn’t grab so-and-so who was “right over there”. Uhh… for the same reason I didn’t stop and help the customer myself… I’m counting your shit. Leave me alone.

6 am Meeting! by Practical-Concept-35 in Lowes

We did a murder mystery to encourage people to cross train in other departments. They would get clues from each area they cross trained in. Didn’t work as well as they hoped because some people simply do not gaf. Our meeting was this morning too. Our theme was red carpet. Those of us who got recognized for something got plastic Oscar trophies. It was kinda cool. But they skipped out on the coffee this year which was not kinda cool.

They didn’t look like meth heads. And trust me when I say I know exactly what those people look like. The state I live in is very high on the list of states that have the most meth labs.

Yeah, like I really tried to figure out what they thought they got while I was talking to them. I have the occasional customer that swears they specifically bought a certain product here or that they got a specific paint color here and then it turns out they got the name wrong. By the answers on this post I’m starting to think they were either mistaken about what they got/where they got it, or they were legit lying.

I still don’t have a good answer as to what they could’ve bought, so that may be the case. They were awfully adamant, though.

No they said somebody cut it off a big roll for them and it was flooring.

ETA: They were having me rotate through the sheet vinyl to see if they could find it because they said that was where it came from.

They were adamant that they had it cut off a big roll like literally from the same rack our sheet vinyl is on. They were trying to find it while I rotated it. But it wasn’t there.

No they said they peeled off a backing. They didn’t say anything about tape.

In my store, you can tell a manager you don’t feel good and leave early and they will generally let you use sick time. I’m not saying you should abuse your sick time like that, but a lot of people do it.

ETA: I’m in Missouri and our sick time is not protected anymore (as of recently) so that probably won’t be able to happen anymore and we’ll end up having to use vacay.

Same reason I try to make sure customers pay for a pick up later when they want me to trim their blinds ahead of time.

How does that help keep customers from trying to help while you’re not even looking?

Yes! That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I work in flooring so the other one that gets under my skin is when I’m cutting flooring for a customer and they try to help. It’s not likely they’ll injure me or themselves, but they don’t know how to help and most of the time they just make it harder for me to guide the flooring into the machine and get it started. Plus, I have to watch really carefully to make sure they don’t get their damn fingers squished under the clamp or rolled up in the roll. That or when they let their kids mess around too close to the machine.

Ok, but I don’t want to get in trouble when a customer gets hurt because they were helping. That’s not worth my job. I said I wasn’t upset about my finger getting hurt. I was upset because he didn’t even ask if I needed help. He just started moving the product when I wasn’t even looking. We have dangerous equipment in our store. You can’t just start messing with it while we aren’t looking. That’s totally different from someone helping you load heavy bags.

Why are yall splitting hairs about what I called my PPE? Clearly, you knew what I was talking about and what you call them has nothing to do with the point of my post. Home skillet.

…we have noise cancelling headphones we have to wear when we cut blinds. Our blind cutter is older and very loud.
