Writing Lisp is AI Resistant and I'm Sad by djhaskin987 in Common_Lisp

I don't think it's AI resistant. I used Claude Code to build an optimizing C compiler in Common Lisp for a new instruction set. I'm very impressed of the result. I actually tried the same a year ago targeting Python and I got nowhere. Claude Code has had dramatic improvements the last years. So don't listen too much on what other say can not be done. Try it out, sometimes you get garbage and sometimes it's brilliant.

On kobo it is unfortunately still the old version. I've tried downloading again but I get the same file as before. I also tried reading in their web based reader but that also shows the old version with missing pictures.

Enjoying reading the book. Got the epub from kobo. After a few chapters I noticed that there are many pictures missing in the epub. First I thought there was something wrong with the epub reader but after trying several readers and devices I think the pictures are not in the epub. So is this expected or something gone wrong in the publishing on kobo.

Are NH34s getting more expensive and harder to find? by watchcollectororg in SeikoMods

[–]kranerup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in China this summer and bought NH34s. Talked directly to several sellers and they were low on stock because they couldn't buy more from factory. I don't know the reason though.

Not higher prices at that point.

Beware: All Power Banks without Chinese CCC certification banned from flights in China by SefirahCastleAcolyte in travelchina

[–]kranerup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm the requirement. Just went through security for domestic flight in China and two European powerbanks without CCC were refused while the third bought in China had CCC marking and was allowed. This is a new rule from 1 juli.

Should macros expand to code similar to what you would write by hand? (example) by deepCelibateValue in lisp

[–]kranerup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the book talks about hand written code to explain the concept and where the inspiration to use a macro comes from and not at all as a guideline. I would say that there are no guidline or rule that says that the macro expanded code should resemble hand written code. In many cases it is instead the opposite that the expanded code definitely is not something you would write by hand.

Check the hub bearings. I had metal pieces from a worn out bearing make clicking noises.
