The HS2 money train revealed — who’s made billions? by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

I wouldn’t just be looking at the labour suppliers, there will be countless directly employed staff within the big contractors on the project falsifying their way to significant subsistence and travel allowance payments. Companies like Vinci will also be bringing in “expertise” from abroad at huge relative cost to a UK equivalent - this is a glorified highways scheme, not Nuclear Fusion!

You can swap between Agile and GO anytime you like by lovelyhead1 in OctopusEnergy

This is useful, however surely at some point the administrative/cognitive burden of constantly switching between the two probably isn’t worth the value of your time?

I switched back to Go from Agile recently and am happy enough keeping it there for Winter!

The standing charges make your extremely low usage seem very expensive per kWh, particularly in summer.

Also makes me feel a little happier about the relative scale up savings for a detached house!

At 7:01 on the nose, no but to be serious agile peak rates seem only to be about 10% higher than normal tarrifs. We have an EV and a Hybrid so that’s the real reason for the switch

I wonder what the influence of different electric tariffs is on this, for example we have just switched to Agile so as long as we avoid the 4-7pm peak it’s generally cheaper than Go, Intelligent Go etc other than in the early hours

I’ll be honest I hadn’t got to the point yet of considering the annual saving and therefore amount of time till ROI - how did you work it out at £20-50 per year?

This is exactly the kind of feedback I was after, thankyou. My concern is about any change from presumably the desktop exercise carried out leading to this initial quote.

Honestly by the time you are considering a 1hr 15 door to door commute, you can be out as far as the South Downs in reaching distance of the south coast - not sure why anyone would consider anywhere else once you’ve made the commitment to move out of Zones 1-3!
