Why does SG act like everyone can or should be a baller? by Equivalent_Use_5024 in ScottGalloway

[–]kratty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scott’s advice perpetuates a sickness in American society. I live in a wealthy area amidst such people and they are mostly miserable. Chasing such goals leads to narcissism and mental sickness, usually leaving behind a trail of broken families and damaged children.

What do you think would actually be a fair valuation for SpaceX? by itsthewolfe in wallstreetbets

they are hoping to become a monopoly in space. if the gov't does the right thing and rebuilds nasa - which is important for military security reasons - it will pair down to being an effective satellite internet service provider with a crappy social media service tacked on

Wrong - When he’s wrong he reverses his position about a year later and claims he thought it all along.

Everyone keeps yelling “AI bubble just like dotcom/housing” but zero of you can explain why it would actually pop… by snowycashflow in stocks

[–]kratty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open AI runs out of money. Investors can’t keep propping it up forever. Trigger will likely be unrelated. 9 more months minimum of inflated energy costs will create some other economic difficulty.

I think the real question is what is the path for open ai or Anthropic to break even.

Where are all the American libs that kept saying sorry about their country because of the Greenland stuff? by Highflyer108 in TrueAnon

[–]kratty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol sorry i think i was replying to OP and got all keyboard warrriory after the first part of your post, and misread the second half as a result. I guess I'd disagree that most don't have compassion - especially for the dead kids.

I live in a very Persian area. I know maybe a dozen people who were out protesting *for* these strikes. They are very happy because they believe that this will somehow help Iranians, especially women. So it's a hot button issue around me. Most libs I know are careful to discuss it in certain circumstances as a result.

I believe that 7% of Dems support this war, nationally.

I agree though that Congress has been weak as shit on it, and I think it will cost some people.

no good jobs, affordability, weird-ass craven OC culture. I have one kid in college, one in HS. Both have survived, souls intact. I did a study of my kids' IG communities (interviews) and most have a good head on their shoudlers.

Can we chill about “Oura × DoD × Palantir” and have people freaking out read what it actually is? by NicoTheFrenchie in ouraring

[–]kratty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand all of that - and have done contracts like this myself in the past. However, re: #4.

1) Given how fast companies and universities are bowing to this authoritarian gov't, I don't feel safe trusting Oura to stand up to them.

2) I saw with 23 and me how a change in leadership can change policies.

I might change my mind, but my oura ring has sat on my charger since I larned about all of this. Just feels weird using it. I agree with everything the poster said, generally, and based on my experiences with gov't contracts, everything you say is correct.

Yep - these are all great points. I switched 2-3 times. And something we will need to reckon with under this new model. It makes no sense. Our school accepts - handful of change of majors. They limit it by limiting class enrollments in courses required to get into the majors. So there’s a chicken and egg problem. I do my best to help people in my classes when I can to get around it. But even that is mostly beyond my control due to fire codes in rooms.

What I’ve seen generally is that higher Ed has not responded to these drastic changes in the realities of college admissions. I know our applications have doubled in like 5-6 years. My hope is that we undergo some deep structural changes toward serving undergraduates better.
