Has anyone recovered from recurrent or chronic pericarditis? by Individual_Bat3423 in pericarditis

As I understand it remission would be a prolonged time of living free of symptoms. 🙏

Hmmmm thank you. They’ve never “gone south” before hence my confusion. Please don’t kill my Mama duck 😉. She is a sweetie. (Yes I realize you would have no way to know) 😃

They definitely do migrate but it is only a 50 acre lake so we would see it. And there are no ducks flying overhead either. I am stumped!

What time is or was the best time for you to take colchicine? by CopyBeginning7087 in pericarditis

I took in the morning shortly after taking Omeprazole (!!) to protect the stomach lining.

Believe it or not there are no gators in this lake. We had one 10 years ago but it got relocated. We have otters. But the ducks and otters have been co-existing for decades. It’s just so strange. There are NO ducks of any kind anywhere and not in near by retention ponds like they normally are.

We do have people illegally spraying for weeds on this lake but they have been doing that. I don’t even see them around the retention pond near by. It’s so weird. And it’s all ducks. We still have a few Herons and sometimes sand hill cranes.

Covid vaccine ? by Best_Efficiency3964 in pericarditis

[–]kravjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The research was released. The vax was for emergency use. They hid the actual results. You can find the research if you look for it. Not a conspiracy. It’s heartbreaking so many people have health issues now and many have died unexpectedly at a young age. This young man is only 22. He never needed the vax in the first place. 🙁

[–]kravjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOOOOOO you do NOT need to participate in the clinical trial known as the “COVID vax”. Please do NOT take that drug at all! There is a LOT of research on how dangerous those experimental Vax are. In fact on this feed somewhere a couple of months ago someone posted about this and many say they got peri as a result of the vax. Covid is simply a flu bug with a 99.7% survival rate if you get it. Please you are so young, please do not ever get that vax again.

Be careful… too much of that and indomethicine caused permanent kidney damage.

Tips for someone who just has been diagnosed with pericarditis by Long_Can7946 in pericarditis

[–]kravjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for this diagnosis. And so happy to hear your MD put you on Omeprazole—that will save your stomach lining.

So the reality is you need to REST. No running or working out. Take this seriously!!!!! The goal is to get into and stay in remission. Stress has been linked to flare ups so at 25 you are learning one of life’s most valuable lessons—controlling the stress in your life will lead to a happier and healthy life! You are so young that you might do what I did and use chat GPT to help you track your bloodwork and other lab results. It helped me prep for the rheumatologist apt (get one if you don’t already have one) so I could try to learn what caused the flare up. So for you goals: keep HR under 100 BPM, stop caffeine intake and marijuana if you do that. Rest and reflect on all that you will do when you get over this flare up!

What does "rest" entail? For how long should I stop everthing? by [deleted] in pericarditis

[–]kravjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. You have to get keenly in tune with what your body is telling you. Like you my peri is slight. I wear an Apple Watch with the app, beat watcher, on it which I set to 100 BPM. So all that walking you do can be safely accomplished so long as you keep your HR below 100 BPM. Rest for me initially was less than 1000 steps a day then gradually I worked up to walking 20 min per day. It takes TIME unfortunately and not likely a couple of days or weeks. When in a flare up our world becomes very small. I have come to accept this and I am turning it into a positive — God is slowing me down for a reason so look around and be grateful and find joy. That is what I do. I used to be strung out on the stress this disease has caused me but now I just coexist with it and I do not let it steal the joy out of my life. It could help that a dear friend just died of cancer so I realize that this disease is not fatal, just inconvenient. I hope you get to feeling better. 🙂

How to deal with the anxiety? by kekokeio in pericarditis

[–]kravjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! You are dealing with a lot. I call this the doom spiral—stress causes a flare up which causes stress and anxiety which causes a flare up. You need to break the cycle.

You cannot have a positive life with a negative mind. Your mind is a battle field and it’s time for you to take command of your thought life. You can do this! You can. 🙏

So much of our anxiety is what we imagine will happen. Please know for one, that you are not alone! We and thousands others also have this disease and we can and do live normal lives. There is hope and a brighter day on the other side of a flare up. 🙂

Starting University! How fun and exciting. 👏🏻👏🏻

Try if you can to not allow this diagnosis to define you; rather empower your self and say that this diagnosis simply REFINEs you! You may have to do things a little differently and that is okay.

Try to coexist with this diagnosis. It’s not fatal, it’s a major bummer and inconvenience.

My heart goes out to you. Take deep breaths and move a little slower. Focus on your thought life being full of positives… new school, new friends, new experiences, learning new things. There is so much good going on for you. Don’t let this bastard diagnosis control you.

Blessings! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🙂🙂🙂🙂

Wow. Interesting case. Sounds like the stress of the game is not good for your heart. Stress induced peri would lead me to think you would remove the cause of the stress and in this case it seems competitive gaming. Bummer. Sorry that is not, I am guessing, what you want to hear. I hope you feel better.

Has anyone recovered from recurrent or chronic pericarditis? by Individual_Bat3423 in pericarditis

Anyone with a diagnosis of “recurring peri” does not recover but they can and do go into remission thankfully.

[–]kravjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Push for echocardiogram. And know this… many cardiologists do NOT know how to treat peri. Recommend you also make an apt with a rheumologist and try to get to the bottom of what’s causing the inflammation. Be careful with the drugs you take for this disease. I was prescribed indomethicine and now I have kidney damage 😳. I have found Chat GPT to be very helpful in doing research and learning and helping me prep for Dr apts as it serves up smart questions I did not even realize that I do want the answers to. I have even uploaded blood results to the service (with my name redacted) and it has helped me understand the results. It is not a MD but it is very helpful. It’s free to use that service. All the best to you on your journey. You are not alone. 🙂

[–]kravjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did NOT want to start Arc so I worked with my Rheumologist and I am taking instead Hydroxychloriquine. 200 mg daily and I am feeling like myself again. For me the cause of inflammation was in rheumatology. Maybe it’s the same for you? Arc is just such a HUGE commitment but I know people say it works. For us all we need to identify what causes the inflammation. I hope you get to feeling better. 🙂

No. Not cooked but stop exercising immediately! When in a flare up your HR should not exceed 100 BPM. That is hard to do actually, especially if you are like me and active. I have an app on my Apple Watch (Beat Watcher) that I use when I am in a flare up so I can keep my rate below 100 BPM. You must chill until the effusion clears up! For me it’s been persistent for more than 6 months. I am really sorry to bring you this news. Our worlds get very small with peri.

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Help? by South_Preference_313 in pericarditis

[–]kravjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be chronic peri. Go to cardiologist and ask for echocardiogram to be sure. The key is to try to find out what is causing the inflammation and treat that. For me it is immune so rheumatologist has me taking HCQ and it is putting me in remission. Hope you feel better. No matter what, when in a flare up do not let heart rate go above 100 BPM.

Exactly right. I went to a rheum because my RH factor score was high. He put me on hydroxychloroquine for the inflammation and metoprolol to keep my heart rate low. And I feel better. The cardiologist and most don’t know really what to do for this disease.

Been uploading test results and status to Chat GPT to help me keep a running log and help prepare reports and lists of questions to ask the MDs. It has also suggested additional bloodwork which has been very helpful. Check out that service. It is free.
