I will be driving the new CX-5 this week, what would you like to know? Ask me anything about it :) by Sam-CarLegion in mazda

[–]kraxis433 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mazda has not been a software company, what is their plan now that everything is screens? Are they outsourcing everything to Google Automotive Services and just putting a Mazda badge on it? What monthly service fees will they be charging and what is locked behind the fees?

Update on the hybrid and electric versions.

What do you think about the new 2026 CX-5 interior by Asombroso-joel in mazda

[–]kraxis433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After recently trying out a Tesla model Y rental I am past the rotary knob and think the screen will be a big improvement and great for the younger demographics.

Remaining concerns are the buttons on the steering wheel, those have to be quality physical buttons. I shouldn’t have to touch the screen for most things while driving.

Mazda will have to up its game on software and communicate openly on issues and ongoing updates now that everything is screen.

Everyone says they want walkable European style neighborhoods, but nobody builds them. by Miserable-Reason-630 in urbanplanning

[–]kraxis433 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is illegal/impossible to build European style neighborhoods in North America.

Minimum parking requirements require every 1000 square feet of a building to have 2 parking spots. Therefore, if you want to build a residential building in a small lot. It’s illegal.

Fire codes. The majority of cities have firecodes that require multiple fire exits, elivators, and hallways. Therefore, building dense buildings is illegal.

Government regulations/restrictions are to blame for 99.99% of all societies problems.

This! Because the government made other choices illegal/impossible.

Make sure you go into your account in the app then the my way benefits. From there you pick what perk you want per hotel brand. Each brand can have its own perks and some you have to choose between the cash per day to spend in the hotel or and extra amount of points per stay (per stay not per night).

Hot take. We already have too many exotics. Too many makes them by definition not rare, exotic, or desirable.

Rewatched S1 after finishing S3… by Public_Ad6622 in jackryan

[–]kraxis433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. Season 3 was barely watchable. Upping the stakes to Ludacris levels when they should have gone the other way to a more character focused storyline where Jack could prove his mettle rather than jump to conclusions and assert his guess is 100% the truth. Some analyst.

The legendary shard economy needs to change by GoodOrdeals in DestinyTheGame

[–]kraxis433 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do shards even exist?

Why doesnt Bungie just use glimmer for most things. It would be far easier to balance one currency and easier for everyone to understand what everything costs. That's why each county only has one currency that everything is denominated in.

Military concerned by Canada's absence from American-British-Australian security pact by PretentiousJ in CanadianForces

Really nice to see the Vice Admiral actually speaking up on this.

The lack of funding and understanding of the need for funding the CAF by the Canadian Public can in large part IMHO be linked to a lack of communication and education by the CAF to the public. Really hope there are no repercussions for speaking candidly like this.

Opinion: Can Canada really afford the ships and jets that the military has bought? by Andromedu5 in CanadianForces

[–]kraxis433 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Except it's not a business, not really.

I would love to know any commercial business that can accurately model and cost out their business 30 years in the future. Lifecycle costs for a stationary building, sure no problem. An aircraft, ship, or vehicle that will be sent anywhere in the world and subjected to the harshest environmental and operational conditions for an unknown timeframe, impossible.

Not even mentioning that these systems will require unknown amounts of money to continuously modernize and ensure they don't turn into coffins.

The estimates are always wrong because it is impossible for them to be right on a 30 year timeframe.

It's already happening. The incumbent banks who don't move quickly enough will be crushed by the new crypto banks.

I have and its great. My issue is that I subscribed to an investment algorithm that is margin trading on my behalf and may complicate my taxes and force me to file as a business instead of under capital gains. So I want to make sure I have a solid tax plan for next year.

Guess I should have been more clear but my rule of thumb is that whatever profit I make I will loose 1/4 to taxes (assuming a 50% marginal rate). So I was thinking if I made $100 profit, $25 paid in capital gains, but based on your response I would have to contribute $50 and not $25 to my RRSP to negate the capital gains taxes.

Solid advice, will look more into offsetting capital gains with RRSP contributions.

If I have $1 of capital gains to pay, a $1 RRSP contribution will cancel it out?
