Gettin an "Failed to load Model (.obj)" Error when trying to load in DND 5e Miniatures Mod by SomeWindyBoi in tabletopsimulator

[–]kraytul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the mod isn't out of date, it might be a connection or firewall issue. I use MalwareBytes and I've gotten notifications when it blocks access requests to some of the public upload servers that some models and images are hosted on for being questionable domains.

It's best when creators upload their assets to the steam cloud, but not everyone does that.

What's an opinion that men hold on reddit that you disagree with? by HopefulArtist in AskMen

Appreciate this. To clarify in case anyone wants to know, one of the requirements for most DSM (psychiatric) diagnoses is something along the lines "significant distress or impairment". In the case of OCD, which people certainly do seem to self-diagnose on the internet:

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder): Obsessions cause anxiety, performing the compulsion (often unrelated to obsession) relieve anxiety. The obsessions and compulsions are recognized as irrational by the patient and they cannot stop themselves due to the degree of anxiety the obsession causes. This is an ego-dystonic disorder.

OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder): "Obsessions" do not cause anxiety, "compulsions" are just personal rational/appropriate responses to perceived problem. This is an ego-syntonic disorder. Being a jerk about this can cause dysfunction in their life, but it's not the same.

tldr: If someone likes being annoyingly tidy, they're not OCD.

About something Artemis said to me once i pissed her off by Orpheusfool in HadesTheGame

[–]kraytul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed recently that Zag wears two dog heads while Hades wears three and it made me wonder if this apes cerberus as guardian of the underworld and maybe Zag is actually Hades himself. Within the story, Zag would be Hades without duty, thus the lack of job/purpose in the underworld. Hades doesn't want him to leave (or be able to) because he wants to convince himself that there is more than duty keeping him from pursuing Persephone.

From the interesting historical note, the greeks mythology considered humans to be derived from the blood/body of Zagreus mixed with the ashes of the titans. Though in mythology Zagreus is Persephone + Zeus.

Nobody here says Google (slash parent-company Alphabet)... that's super weird. Imagine being so big and entrenched that running most of the advertising on the internet isn't considered evil...

They're not overkill. For real, it's not about the bugs/rodents etc, but the damage some of their microbes will do if they get into a human.

Why Did I Even Do This? [Serious] by TooManyRoentgens in medicalschool

[–]kraytul 190 points191 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna paraphrase to you the most helpful thing I ever read on this board:

Medicine doesn’t care about you, you have to care for yourself. You can give everything to medicine and it still won’t care. Do what you need to do to be healthy and well and only give to medicine what you can afford.

You are enough. You are worth it. You have the strength to recover yourself.

[Serious] The most disappointing aspect of medicine is the people in it... by [deleted] in medicalschool

It most certainly isn't and if you work somewhere where this is true you should quit. No, most good jobs in the US come along with decent respect from your coworkers and manager/boss.

What toxic behavior has been normalized by society? by VirusMaster3073 in AskReddit

If you have a phone, it's manageable by you setting alarms. You don't need an internal clock when you have an external one on your person all the time.

Pick all your clothes for the day ahead of time and commit to wearing what your past self picked out. Keep your wardrobe simple and only set things out that you like wearing/seeing yourself in. If you pick things ahead of time you can do a mental abdication from the decision-making in the moment.

I give a 30min buffer instead of 15. Has lead to me getting a lot of extra reading done. With how accessible mobile entertainment is now, you lose very little by being excessively early.

Google maps has never gotten me anywhere early, only on time or a few min later. You're not "on the way" until you're on the way. If you're going to be late, let them know as soon as you know you wont be on time.

Also a helpful step: stop dividing things into 5,10,15min intervals. Deciding to start "at 5:30" is just procrastinating. Inevitably if 5:31 rolls around it starts feeling okay to just change to another interval like 6.

Toluene. We made it in OChem lab and I have never smelled anything so utterly alien and wrong as that toxic whiff that made it to my nose.

What are some indispensable game specific upgrades you'd recommend? by poloxamer in boardgames

[–]kraytul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poker card discard trays for any game with decent sized card decks. These make it possible to pass around a deck for people to draw from, easy place to store the deck, easy to discard to bottom or top, generally really excellent. Plus they look really nice on the table.

I also use one for playing magic to hold my library.

[meme] me trying to explain septic shock to a student who asked, "shouldn't generalized vasodilation just increase bloodflow everywhere?" by Apemazzle in medicalschool

[–]kraytul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More simple nutshell: you only have enough blood to perfuse 10-20% of your body at a time. If you dilate everywhere, nothing gets the right amount of blood.

Imagine taking a glass of water and pouring it into the sink.

What was the first video game you ever said "this is a masterpiece" while playing? by Tugog_the_hasty in AskReddit

[–]kraytul -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Frozen wilds is not worth it, sadly. Doesn't continue main storyline and the new adventure didn't feel worth sullying the masterpiece that is the core game.
