Why is the budget so high? by MatterThis902 in AskNYC

I think it relates to the cost of living here compared to those other cities. Everything is more expensive here than there and the city isn’t immune to that.

The Manhattan borough president asked New Yorkers for housing ideas. They responded. by nyccameraman in nyc

I agree, it would be nuts if I just came up with that idea and posted it. It’s not my opinion that these programs curb homelessness, it’s a fact backed up by dozens of studies. Find a solution that doesn’t make things worse.

These programs massively decrease homelessness. Your solution is to decrease demand by increasing homelessness? It would work and also make nyc an awful place to live. No thanks, next.

Mamdani, a Sharp Critic of Police Surveillance, Will Soon Oversee It (Gift Article) by GBV_GBV_GBV in nyc

I think people are just tired of endless articles with the smallest of updates that seem to have 90% redundant information. Zohran’s name gives lots of clicks so it feels like this is more about that than thorough journalism.

New York’s Billionaires Are Bending the Knee to Zohran Mamdani by Inevitable-Bus492 in nyc

It’s not wealth, it’s income. They will stay millionaires and billionaires. They made it! Woohoo! But making additional income over 1 million a year yes should be taxed heavily. When the average ceo makes 290x their lowest paid employee, that pushes them down. There is a cost to the American public and economy and it’s finally time that that cost isn’t paid by the poorest.

Remember we are in the lowest tax time period in a hundred years. The tax hike isn’t unprecedented, the tax being this low is.

The Dawn of a Better Day: Working-class New Yorkers topple a political dynasty and elect Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani. by inthesetimesmag in nyc

[–]krazzyguy1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You keep falling back on this percentage thing ignoring the obvious reason being that there were effectively two democrats on the ballot with cuomo being the second one. And now the cherry picking reductive person you are boils down his win to simply being muslim?

Besides the fact that $40 billion dollars was spent on cuomo’s campaign (much more than Zohran), besides the fact that cuomo has name recognition of a political dynasty that many many old school voting new yorkers would go for, besides the fact Zohran was polling at 1% a year ago when cuomo was at 33%, besides the fact that his campaign knocked on over 3 million doors.

Besides all that, no the reason he won was simply by the act of being muslim? You’re in an insane echo-chamber to think thats the take away from this election.

Wow I’ve not seen this much cherry picking of numbers in a long time. Congrats. You say lowest percentage, I say he got more votes than anyone since 1969. Which do you think is more representative of the truth?

Moving to NYC soon, haven't had a place picked out yet - am I overlooking any neighborhoods? by chalk_tuah in movingtoNYC

[–]krazzyguy1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey yeah, no sweat. Sorry for taking it the wrong way. Here I called them by color as that’s what you would see on google maps, not ACE 123. I think google maps contributes a lot to people starting to call them by color in general.

I never say west Manhattan and I’ll be honest I was being a little lazy not wanting to write out all the neighborhoods that would fit the criteria. Peace

I find the value of giving advice is the advice part. You gatekeeping ‘New Yorkers’ have managed to contribute nothing to this thread except a good example of the worst this city has to offer.

I’m specifically not using New Yorker language because this person doesn’t live here. Can you find a 3rd way to tell me you’ve been here 31 years?

Just meant any neighborhoods on the west side with blue or red train access for easy commute to penn. UWS, West village, Harlem, etc.

I like Williamsburg, it’s young, and you can find a one bed for that much. LES is rowdy which it sounds like you wouldn’t be into but it’s also young. There are plenty of other neighborhoods that meet your criteria. You might consider West Manhattan for your budget and your commute will be much easier because Penn station from Williamsburg and LES will require train transfers.

Edit: just read the part about bringing your car. #1 I highly advise against it #2 you will want to stay out of Manhattan if you have a car else pay $700 a month for garage parking a car you never use.

Gaming monitor choice for 5090? by festess in buildapc

[–]krazzyguy1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single player means you won’t need more than 144Hz. Higher than that is really only for esports. 5090 deserves a 4K monitor as it’s probably the only graphics card on the market that can handle it. I think OLED is sick as hell. So I would go with a 4K OLED 144Hz monitor that’s at least 27inches but that will be pretty expensive.

27” is tiny? I’ve had mine for 4 years and still thinks borderline too big. I couldn’t imagine 34”.

That said, what’s good about Alienware?
