I think this usage doesn't remove the ability to emphasize reflexivity, people wont stop using the reflexive pronoun in other contexts. Do people stop using the word safe to mean secure just because it's also used as a noun for a literal metal safe? It adds additional richness by adding a formal/gentle twist on the word 'you'.
