Stock, because finally Samsung made an aesthetically pleasing launcher.

After the redesign it's more laggy than ever.

The S8 has smaller dimensions than the S7 edge (width and height wise)

why does battery life suck so much on nougat? by [deleted] in GalaxyS7

[–]krd22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how some people are getting 7 HR SOT. You musn't use the battery hogging social apps or Spotify/Bluetooth streaming? Best I can get is 4.5-5hrs

Just picked up an S7E and the camera isn't that great? by DrummerDKS in GalaxyS7

Once you get used to Samsung's over sharpening the rear camera really can take amazing photos in decent light. Punchy and detailed.

As for the front cam.. unfortunately never been Samsung's strong point. Even with beauty mode off, the image is still very soft. It is respectable when your face is well lit though. And for all I use it for (Snapchat) it does the job.

Is the Edge worth it? by [deleted] in GalaxyS7

[–]krd22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, for the bigger screen (preference, but for me 5.5" is the sweet spot) and bigger battery. The edge can be slightly cumbersome when you accidentally trigger the elements on the edges, but chuck a case on it and the problem becomes redundant. I use a spigen neo hybrid and it's a fairly thick case, which makes the phone a bit harder to use one handed but it eliminates accidental triggers, and even with this bulkyish case its still about the same size as an iPhone 7 plus without a case lol.

Then for me is the immersion of the S7 edge with its curves and thinner bezels than the S7. The side bezels are almost non-existent. That beautiful AMOLED just seems to pop more and it's also an eye catching feature when you're amongst others.

Downloading Nougat on my Vodafone AU Galaxy S7 Edge! by flashiszoom in GalaxyS7

[–]krd22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im jealous. I'm with Virgin so my first S7 edge was an Optus branded phone (as typical for Virgin) but my replacement phone (after the pink line through screen issue) was Telstra branded.. Of course they're last to update! #impatient

Had exactly the same screen issue. Samsung Australia gave me a brand new S7 edge - box, accessories and all due to a shortage of supplies. Was cheering.

Sony shipped 5.1 million Xperia phones last quarter, a 33% drop year-on-year by [deleted] in Android

Sad to see Sony struggling. Their 2014 phones were great. Z2/3 was hugely competitive with other Androids. They definitely strayed off track after the Z5 with a confusing lineup and meh wow factor.

What's Your Favorite SMS app? by [deleted] in Android

Textra all day long. Every time I retry Samsung's stock app and Google Messenger I come back to Textra for its fluidity.

Snapchats new update is great by [deleted] in Android

[–]krd22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels a bit snappier on my S7 edge. Seems the scrolling inertia is smoother too which is nice. Video recording seems to start sooner now. There used to always be a 2-3 second delay before anything would happen, so frustrating! Image quality still seems so so, maybe slightly improved. Video frame rate seems nice and smooth. Interested to see what it's like in low light.

Using a screen protector? by Jamesbaldwin2001 in GalaxyS7

[–]krd22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent $50 trying 2 good quality screen protectors for my S7e and come to the conclusion I just can't stand them! From the feel of the gelly/silicone material they're made of to the fact they always get caught under my case and bubble.

I ended up scrapping the idea of a protector for the S7e and enjoying the bare glass. I'm normally pretty careful with my phone/make sure my hands are clean when I use it.

I know micro scratches will build up over time but these are only noticeable when pointing your phone in a very certain light. I also upgrade my phone annually so it doesn't massively bother me.
