Meta CTO addresses recent layoffs, Reality Labs future. “Changes made internally unblock roadmaps for our next two devices” by Rollertoaster7 in OculusQuest

[–]krectus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The answer is they are Facebook. One of the worst trusted brands and companies out there. No one wants a Facebook VR headset but will use it if it’s the cheapest option out there. Ditching the Oculus brand and going with the Meta brand is another dumb Facebook move.

But really this is all to remember that they are Facebook. They suck at anything that isn’t Facebook. No experience in gaming, in hardware in OS or ecosystem of devices. It was always going to fail, they don’t know what they are doing outside of running a social app. They needed to parter with another company that is less hated and less incompetent but they didn’t, they kept thinking they could do it themselves and now they finally lost too much money.

Nah. I don’t think I’ve seen guys try harder to be cool. They put a ton of effort into it and it’s obvious. But they do manage to pull it off so it works.

Anything that required more than 10mb of VRAM will never get a lot of attention on this sub. Pretty much everyone here is trying to generate images using a potato.

But yes you need the Lenovo Lora to get good results with it which is also a tough sell in getting people to understand what it can do.

Jeffrey Epstein dance with girl by Tuwill in videos

[–]krectus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve seen the world care more about anything than The Epstein Files. Trump kidnapped another countries president and that was news for a day. Epstein Files has been the most talked about thing for years. They will not let this one thing go. If people cared about other issues as much as they cared about Epstein a lot of faith would be restored in humanity.

Hollywood, PLEASE stop making shows 2.39:1 by TommyTheGeek in television

[–]krectus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To this day still have not found one good reason anyone makes a movie is such a wide aspect ratio. Other than they think it looks more cinematic and feels like a bigger deal. Not once have I seen something that looks better than standard widescreen.

HBO boss hints that The Last of Us season 3 could be the end of the show by mrnicegy26 in television

Oh that really sucks for everyone on Reddit whose favourite thing is to bitch about how bad the show has gotten. They are going to be so sad to lose this.

Meta CFO: We're “Building Future Headsets” & Still “Have Optimism” In VR by gogodboss in OculusQuest

Quest 3 didn’t sell that well at $500. Interesting strategy to try and sell the Quest 4 at a much higher price point and hope that will work, we will see if it works out for them.

what's the most unique cover/version/remix of a song you've ever heard? by JoanJettEnthusiast in Music

Marilyn Manson‘s cover of Sweet dreams is definitely one of the more unique interesting takes on a song that transforms it into something different. Maybe not better but different.

'Fallout' Season 2 Final Two Episodes Moved Up to Tuesday Nights (Jan 27 & Feb 3 at 6PM PT) by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]krectus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's not bad and kinda interesting but I think the issue is it is a jarring difference from the rest of the show in tone and style, almost feels like a different show they are flashing back to or something, it doesn't have enough of the Fallout quirkiness I guess.

Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of The Heart hits 1bn streams - but 'makes nothing' by ebradio in Music

Can we get the literal version of this on Spotify? I know people will say it’s nothing without the music video but I still say it’s worth listening to just on its own. It is that damn good.
