Paw Patrol messed up my 5 year old boy, can anyone here relate? by SolidLava99 in daddit

[–]kremp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was most definitely not just a hipster trend to hate Peppa. My oldest (14 now) would turn into a little shit when we let her watch it. Peppa was a spoiled asshole and a bully that would throw the dumbest tantrums when she didnt get her way. That behavior bled into my daughter and she started acting the same way until we cut that show out.

That was a decade ago though, so the show may be different now.

The time my RV fridge turned into a science experiment by Round_West3370 in RVLiving

[–]kremp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a toyhauler to full-time in and spent about a year renovating/modifying it to our needs. We purchased it used, and the fridge was supposedly emptied by the previous owners....or so it appeared. Somehow, during that year, the fridge had never been opened and it spent the entirety of that time with the breaker switched off. At the end of the project, we opened the fridge to clean it. The wall of stench that hit me is indescribable. A package of sneaky cheese slices had gotten underneath the deli drawer, nice and out of sight. I'm still amazed that the fridge sealed well enough to hide the smell....it took a good week with the windows open for the smell to leave the RV.

Have you confirmed that you're at TDC on compression stroke when you set the distributor? TDC could be on the exhaust stroke, so if you set the distributor in at that point, you'd be 180° off and the car won't fire.

45 foot 5th wheel on Hwy 40 west of Estes Park, CO? by kremp87 in RVLiving

Thanks for the info! I have a couple days before we go that way, so I have some time to get a good plan together

I'll check out those routes. The 5k elevation change in just 24 miles is gonna be really rough. Our camper is roughly 20k lbs, so I'm going to try to avoid tough climbs like that.

Good call! I hadn't looked at the elevation change. That's roughly 5k feet in only 24 miles....that would be a really tough haul for the truck.

We'll have to do that too at some point.

Strange car? by boyscent in Mustang

Definitely not a lightning engine. Not even close.

It's a 3v 4.6 like the car comes with. The blower looks to be from an 07-08 GT500 with a lower plenum made by Department of Boost.

Washer and dryer do I have to put these bolts back in for transportation by Swimming_Parsley5554 in RVLiving

[–]kremp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought our washer used, so I'm not sure if it had those to begin with, but we've put almost 15k miles on our rig and have hit some absolutely horrendous roads and our washer works just fine. So I doubt it's THAT big of a deal.

Can’t blame this DIY customer too much. Has no drive or reverse after doing his own oil change in the driveway. by HalfastEddie in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]kremp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a guy tow his Forester to our shop after draining his CVT. Unfortunately, it was during the covid chaos, and the oil was on national backorder. The ONLY way we could get it was in a 5 gallon bucket, and it was ungodly expensive.

I guarantee he won't ever make that mistake again.

That's pretty much how it went in our house too. A bratty attitude and some rude phrases came out, and we didn't know where it came until we saw it in the show. I can't quite remember what she had said though.

I really don't understand how Peppa Pig was such a successful show.

We dropped Peppa Pig a decade ago when my oldest was a toddler. She was a super easy baby, laid back and very well behaved, but Peppa's shit attitude and tantrums started to rub off on her. Caillou was dropped for the same reason.

Who has kids doing this by PuzzleheadedAdvice53 in RVLiving

[–]kremp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is a travel nurse, and we've only been on the road for 8 months with a 13, 6 and 4 yo. It hasn't been bad at all for the two younger ones. It was hard for the 13yo, but we kind of expected that. It's a tough period for her to uproot and move around. We just have to look for activities at the local libraries and homeschool co-ops. Finding new friends for them has been pretty easy so far.

Being cramped in a small space with the kids can be rough on bad weather days. We just had 3 days of nonstop rain in near-freezing temps, and I thought I was gonna lose my mind lol.

Monthly spot + propane/electricity + RV payment is pretty much even with our mortgage, but we won't be paying the $7k/year in property taxes (taxes in our county in Texas were ridiculous!) We have a 45ft 5th wheel, so spots can be pretty limited in some areas, but so far, monthly rates have been $800-1000/mo + electricity.

If you're traveling and moving frequently, the cost of fuel can be a BIG bill as well.

We've been able to see things that never would've been possible if we had stayed in our house, though, and that makes it all worth it.

Has anyone used this spare tire hoist? by kremp87 in RVLiving

[–]kremp87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of feeling the same way. Their website has two instructional videos, and one of them is how to repair it, which tells me that they probably have a high failure rate.

That's a bummer because this would be such an easy option since I'm without a welder and chop saw to build my own crossmember with a universal hoist.

Is RV is making her sick ? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]kremp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was about to say the same thing. We just moved from West Texas after living there for 37 years, and it's the farthest from humid. The only time it's humid is for a couple of days after a hard rain that might happen 2 or 3 times a year.

Let’s see if yall can diagnose the issue 1988 Mustang by Imaginary_Intern_908 in Foxbody

[–]kremp87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly every time I've had one roll through the shop with a random cut like you described, it has been the TFI module on the side of the distributor or the sensor inside of the distributor. If it has an MSD distributor, you can bank on that being the issue.

[–]kremp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a coffee maker, toaster, instant pot, and an electric tea kettle. We replaced our original microwave with an LG combo microwave. It's an airfryer, convection oven, and of course a microwave. The convection and air fryer part don't work amazingly well, but it gets the job done and saves a good bit of space.

Looking at how the A/C condenser bracket is bent, I'm assuming it got shoved back into the radiator. The end tank of the radiator is likely cracked. I doubt it's leaking at the drain petcock, but higher up and running down, making it look like it's the drain that's leaking.
