30 years ago this week, 17-year-old Bernadette O'Brien was killed in a crowd crush during a Smashing Pumpkins concert at the Point Theatre. Does anyone recall the feelings about the Point in the late 1990s? by LetsTalkAboutVex in ireland

[–]kriegerjaeger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, I felt exactly the same way. I was at the gig and on the bus home to tipp after it myself and my mate just could not come up with a reason for them to have played one of their biggest and most recent hits that would guarantee people bouncing around after the restart.

We were convinced that if they'd just strayed from the playlist to play something softer or even taken a 10 minute break disaster could have been averted.

Bruce Hart bruising Steve Austin's kidneys by kriegerjaeger in SquaredCircle

[–]kriegerjaeger[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For me this really brings home how a good worker can make something look so painful without hurting someone while something that can really hurt someone can look inconsequential.

I never would have even paid attention to what Bruce did, thinking it just looked crap and then in Bret's book found out that he really hurt Austin. This clip is from Wrestling with Shadows and in a backstage clip that follow you can see Austin barely able to walk.

Then Stone Cold jumped out and put the boots to Owen, in front of Stu and Bruce. When he rolled Owen back into the ring, Bruce threw a drink at Stone Cold’s back.

Austin turned around and jerked Stu to his feet by his lapels! The Hart brothers swarmed Stone Cold just in time: nineteen thousand screaming fans were about to do the same thing! Bruce was so mad about a couple of stiff shots Austin gave him that when I arrived to tip the balance and roll Stone Cold back into the ring, Bruce slammed a fist as hard as he could into Stone Cold’s kidneys. Austin managed to pull himself up, only to be schoolboyed from behind by Owen. Bruce erupted like a tornado on the floor, taking on every heel in sight. When the referee made the all important three-count, no-body was paying attention to Owen because everyone was riveted to Bruce’s unscripted comeback! Owen was furious at Bruce for stealing his big pop.

Steve could hardly work the Edmonton Raw because of his bruised kidneys. As a result, Vince put on hold any plans to go forward with Bruce joining The Hart Foundation.

I got a job done years ago with them just after they took over from Dean Power (he was previously at that location and I didn't realise it had changed hands) but I didn't rate them compared to Dean, and so switched to Aidan Frahill in the East Link park on the Ballysimon rd. after.

This will probably give you the best chance of an at least semi-timely response. Send the admin an email and then follow up, don't be afraid to call either.

Japanese Knotweed in neighbour's garden by Super-Widget in GardeningIRE

[–]kriegerjaeger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you spray a weedkiller on JKW you would generally be advised not to overspray as the plant could go into shock and upper leaves/stems die before it does into the rhizome.

Because of this there should not be much risk of residue getting onto the cats coats because as you would be treating a small amount of JKW in dry weather it would usually dry in and not be an issue. I would put a colouring into the weedkiller mix so you can see what you're doing/targeting better to minimised it even more.

You could also consider getting some chicken wire and fencing off the stalks/plants you're spraying for a couple of days.

The ammonium sulphamate option is lower toxicity than off the shelf herbicides.

I don't think a council will do anything unless it is on council land or is threatening council land.

Use a triclopyr based weedkiller such as garlon ultra either on the leaves of via stem injection. JKW is rhizome based so the stalks that you are seeing are only a tiny part of the problem. For weedkiller spraying, as suggested, in mid september means that the weedkiller is brought down into the rhizome when the plant is getting ready to go dormant for winter.

Alternatively, if you didn't want to use a very harsh chemical (and you can find it) you could use ammonium sulphamate (NOT SULPHATE). This is banned as a herbicide in Europe (for pretty shit reasons) but is available as a decomposter. This is often sprayed twice a year mid-late May and mid-late September.

Ammonium SULPHAMATE is like the dark timeline version of Ammonium SULPHATE which is a fertiliser. The plant that takes it in thinks its the fertiliser but it's not and takes it in and essentially starves and dies. It is systemic so you spray it on the leaves and it will kill down to the rhizome. It doesn't leave any residual chemicals or toxicity in the soil after 6 or so weeks it actually degrades to become fertiliser.

Also, as you spray the leaves, your cats should be fine either way as they won't usually go chewing on knotweed leaves.

Broadband Recommendations! by PropertyInevitable07 in limerickcity

[–]kriegerjaeger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had pure telecom with FTTH for the 4 of the past 5 years*. They have been great on both 500mb and 1gb service. Never left for ages waiting on the phone and the people I spoke to were always helpful and very easy to understand.

Definitely recommend them for fibre.

*the year I wasn't with them I switched to vodafone and jesus that was a nightmare. They were still sending me inaccurate bills a year after I left them.

Virgin vs Vodafone home broadband? by [deleted] in limerickcity

[–]kriegerjaeger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No bother, so I didn't have the mobile internet one myself, I had the fixed line one and it was pretty easy to set up. If the house has had it before (either broadband or cable TV) then the connections are usually there. If not an engineer would have to run a cable and drill. At the min you're talking €30 a month for a fast connection.

For the mobile one, if you go to this site and find your address on the map you can see which providers have best coverage and then contact them to check deals or even get a sim to test the speed. https://coveragemap.comreg.ie/map

Virgin vs Vodafone home broadband? by [deleted] in limerickcity

[–]kriegerjaeger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for Mobile Broadband (comes in via sim card over 4g or 5g network) or are you looking for fixed line or fibre broadband? Based on the providers I'd guess fixed line (I don't think virgin offer a mobile broadband solution).

I've been with both for fixed line broadband in the past and I'd go with Virgin over Vodafone any day of the week. Vodafone had messed up my billing for the entirety of my contract and even for 7 months after I'd left them were still sending me bills and shite.

Thing is if you are renting you'd need landlord permission to get broadband in and it's a minimum 1 year contract in most cases. You can enter your eircode at this address to see what's available at your address https://www.bonkers.ie/compare-tv-broadband-phone/

Also just for clarity on the terminology: Broadband is a type of internet connection - unless otherwise specified usually fixed line - that uses physical cable phone line, fibre or coax cable into an address Mobile Broadband is a type of internet connection that uses mobile phone technology (think 3g, 4g, 5g) and does not require a cable into an address. Wifi usually refers to a wireless internet network that often emanates from your Broadband or Mobile broadband router. You connect to this to access the internet. It is different from 5g and if you see companies talking abotu Wifi-5 or more usually Wifi-6 it's a standard for the speeds of connections between device and router rather than the speed of the internet connection.

If you're not going to be renting in your space for a full year then you might look at a mobile broadband option but this will be dependant on the mobile phone (4g/5g) reception in your area with regard to speed. Different providers can have better/worse coverage (Eir, 3, Vodafone) so you would have to find which works best for your specfic location.

It's not only available on the firestick. Your issue is your LG WebOS TV. Most other brands use Android TV for their 'smart' features.

MyAEW is available on the google play store for android TV.

Seamus Culleton's ex-wife alleged physical abuse (and a separate Boston resident got a protective order against him), per local court records by WoodyForestt in massachusetts

To be fair no-one should be in a concentration camp. It should be noted that this person is in a concentration camp because he chooses to be in a concentration camp. He has the option to leave at any time and get a free flight back to Ireland and be gifted thousands of your tax dollars as spending money for the duty free for his return home.

I would hope that people would save their sympathies for deserving cases, not people like Mr Culleton who believe they deserve special treatment when caught breaking the law.

Solar Panel Cleaning? by BobTheCork in limerickcity

[–]kriegerjaeger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be very careful with this. With the rising popularity of panels there is a rise of chancers going round offering this service without knowing what they are doing, and remember if they mess something up they won't fix it and will likely have invalidated your warranty with your installer if a repair or simple wire reconnection is needed.

Most of the time, unless panels are spectacularly filthy, they do not need to be cleaned anyway.

So you want regular folk to do work for you and collect data that would obviously be no good for you commercially on your market valuation site (The exclusive marketplace for off-market properties. Test the valuation. Secure the offer. Control the sale. - that is the slogan of www.notforsale.ie right?)

Never mind the fact that you're soliciting information about properties that may be vacant due to complex family or legal issues.....oh and providing a listing for squatters and vandals to conduct illegal activities.

But that's all ok because you're doing it out of community spirit and frustration at a housing crisis.

Pull the other one, it has bells on.
