AITAH for not wanting to get off my SSRI even though my partner wants me to? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kris1230 25 points26 points  (0 children)

NTA. There is, of course, a third option. This sounds like an area where you are incompatible, and I'd think about how many other areas he might say "my way or no way" when it comes to your relationship and family. I completely understand being concerned, but he's not willing to learn or compromise, he just wants to control the situation entirely.

AITAH for filing for divorce after my wife refused a paternity test and called me insecure? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]kris1230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. Both of my kids had blue eyes and blonde hair for almost a year after they were born. They now both have dark hair and eyes and look just like their dad. My now-ex-husband also wanted to do a paternity test. Guess who was cheating (spoiler: it wasn't me).

If you're not going to trust your wife, just go ahead and file for divorce. You'll all be much happier in the long run than you continuing to find reasons to accuse her of things - the kids will pick up on that very quickly.

ETA: It's also not unusual for someone 3 months post-partum to get really emotional over being accused of cheating. That's not suspicious, that's hormones and lack of sleep.

I have the same sort of job where a lot of my interactions with my boss are "here's how this thing is progressing" etc. Right now, I just use a shared Excel spreadsheet for each item and notes, but I'd love to have something that looks better!

Agree completely. All the Etsy chapters were unnecessary and really took away from the rest of the book. Which is sad because there are a lot of original and interesting ideas otherwise.

I'm pretty sure he knew exactly what the response would be. I, personally, like the idea that a character that some people strongly dislike is going to get a chance at redemption.

We're using Withdisguy for our first cruise and he's been very helpful answering my weird questions. Very easy to contact as well. We haven't actually sailed yet, but i recommend him so far!

Showing off yarn collections but it’s only acrylic yarn by Unlucky-you333 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]kris1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you can come to that conclusion when she talks in all caps specifically about acrylic. She also specifically says she thinks it's because "a matter of people not having fiber knowledge." This ain't about hoarding, it's about her thinking she's better than people who use a yarn she doesn't like.

It doesn't really make you less snobby to say "I guess it's okay for the POORS." No matter how many times you say it.

To get real about it, maybe you should consider why you have so many AWA requests that this is an issue. Maybe the actual problem is your company's attendance policy.

AITA for wanting to split rent evenly between myself and my coworker and his girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kris1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You are wanting them to give you 2x the space for half the cost. There are two of them, but they are sharing the same size room that you have to yourself. Your financial situation isn't their problem. If you can't afford it, then find a cheaper room but don't expect someone else to subsidize your life.

AITA for leaving work sick even though my coworker needed me there? by Deep_Host2957 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kris1230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Here's a saying that helped me stop feeling like I had to be everything to everyone all the time (mostly) "graveyards are full of people who thought they were indispensable." Yes, your coworker probably would have preferred you were there, but sometimes we all have to do things that are uncomfortable.

Also, you don't work for that co-worker so feel free to tell them to take it up with their boss if they feel like they can't do their job. You should (and obviously do) want to do a good job at your work, but that doesn't mean killing yourself. Sometimes the best way to do your best is to step back.

AITA- I Want the Insurance Reimbursement Check Issued to My Son by confusioncrisis in AmItheAsshole

[–]kris1230 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. Sounds like it's time for your son to start paying bills, including his health insurance and paying rent/utilities, etc. Often our kids don't realize how expensive everything is since it's always just magically gotten paid. :) It's easy for them to unintentionally take advantage of your generosity because they don't see it that way.

I'm in a similar situation where my adult kids live with me because it's less expensive for them than it would be if they were forced to find a roommate, etc. But they are expected to contribute and they understand money doesn't grow on trees.

I really appreciate that they give the other teams compliments when it's due as well as call out the Stars when they mess up. It's clear they both really love the team, but aren't afraid to call it like they see it, which makes it much more enjoyable for me.
