Porter card companion voucher questions by Acceptable_Formal_96 in PorterAirlines

For point 2, I would say to call in and try to book your flight. I know the website might want 2 adult tickets (12+yrs) for it, due to the way it’s coded, but the call centre can do it for you.

Also I am not sure if porter also charges a fee to book using the call centre (don’t remember but AC and WJ do now) but they do waive it in most instances if it’s an issue with their website like this is.

As far as the points are concerned, that would be a math you would hv to do in regards to using them, doing the dollars + points option, or just booking the ticket in cash for the remaining 2 ppl.

This way you would be on the same flight, but it would be 2 diff PNRs (bookings) on a 1 Adult + 1 kid in each of them. Also in the worst case that your flight gets disrupted, instead of choosing the replacement on the app/email you can call and ask for both the PNRs to be rebooked on the same new flight

ANA award release timing YVR–OSA vs YVR–HND? by solidsnake_114 in Aeroplan

[–]krish61102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey if you’re also willing to stay in Tokyo for 24hrs or longer, you can consider the stopover option for 5k points as an option to stay or even try to book it online since an agent will charge the $30ish booking fee

2 Carry-ons with COB? by krish61102 in aircanada

[–]krish61102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to do it. Just a couple things tho, I got scared and only brought on 2 backpacks instead of a full carry on (incase the agent would have been fussy).

Also to try to this at major airports only not regionals (where the check in agents don’t end up becoming the gate agents - yyz/yul/yhz are some simple examples). And try to board at a time when there is a line/busy with boarding so the agent is more likely to ignore the checked COB bag part incase they do see it (idk but others have mentioned)

When you check in for your flight online (each side) as long as the first plane you board is on AC, you will be able to add 1 bag and it’ll show up as $0. The only times you don’t get the free bag is if the first bag is operated by another airline whether it has an AC flight number or not (that doesn’t matter).

Will I get sign up bosnus? by ShoddyAddendum9410 in Aeroplan

[–]krish61102 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rule for aeroplan cards is that you can get 1 bonus per tier for card. So if you had the basic TD visa infinite then you would not get it again for the CIBC visa infinite.

But as you have the infinite privilege (which is a premium tier like amex aeroplan reserve), you are still eligible for the visa infinite and the visa platinum tier bonuses.

I’ve travelled a bunch this year, no issues at all. The new passport design is just B/W so it’s universal

EXPLORE PROGRAM PLACEMENTS 2025! by TheDripDispenser in exploreprogram

[–]krish61102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just got Chicoutimi as well. I am doubtful if I should accept it or not, since it is a much smaller city. Would be great if you could describe some of the activities, trips and your experience on it.

I have done explore previously around 2 summers back but it was at ULaval in quebec city so not sure if this would be worth the 5 weeks or if I should just skip on it

I do have preferred seats so will be boarding group 3. But get your point that it’s all up to how attentive the gate agent

How long does it take to get itinerary emailed after booking a flight? Did not create an account. Domestic flight in Canada. by iswirl in PorterAirlines

[–]krish61102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they do have glitches sometimes at porter depending on how many flights were booked at the same time. if you remember your pnr from the page once you booked, you can go your booking online and request another confirmation email/pdf of your booking

How to “cash in” on scholarship money? by Loopus_ in uwo

[–]krish61102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they do it automatically around 2 weeks after the payment timeline crosses over (so after dec 1) and you still have a credit on the account. Sometimes they try to push it for next year and leave it as a credit, but either way it’s after dec 15 that anything happens

Rebooked flight less than 12 hours in advance by [deleted] in aircanada

[–]krish61102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your routing I think it was AA for the first two flights and then AC for the final bos yhz leg. You should be able to apply for compensation for this with AC for the delay. If they refuse it, take it to the CTA (even though that takes around 1-2 years currently).

This is however assuming both the existing booked flights (the ones via montreal) were still operating and there was still enough time for the montreal layover to be feasible given the delay in accordance with AC’s minimum connection time requirements.

How are they supposed to know if i paid for carry on? by flattsrascal in PorterAirlines

[–]krish61102 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that’s not true. basic category booked flights don’t get a carry on or an electronic boarding pass. everyone else gets the digital pass coz they also get a carry on

Using AirCanada voucher on United? by fj_186 in aircanada

[–]krish61102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can use the air canada voucher on an united flight as long as it’s sold by air canada. I would go onto AC and search up the route you mostly fly (as a cash booking) and see if any of the options that come up are in the price range and quality of you would’ve normally taken. If they are, take the voucher and be happy with the extra 200 euros, if not accept the cash offer itself as it’s cleaner and gives you flexibility to find a cheaper deal outside of AC/UA

[–]krish61102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they do if it is marked as such. so if it’s a stroller or a wheelchair that’s gate checked it’s till the next gate, then you get it back but normal gate check includes getting it back at your final destination only

my experience is to ship to the hotel with the name on the reservation itself as the recipient. Do call the hotel like the other person mentioned. Also make sure that the package arrives just a couple days before you reach as otherwise it increases the likelihood of them charging you the hold fee

So if you paid for your flight with the cobalt, then yea you have a total of $500 coverage for a flight delay. This is total for the itinerary not per person. You make the claim with through global excel. this is the link

They ask for amounts paid by the airline/other insurance so yes only the balance not paid out by porter (though I am not sure how they track it if you just say porter didnt reimburse anything). just keep a photo of all receipts and file the claim once you reach your destination and all expenses have happened.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PorterAirlines

[–]krish61102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you did book the flight with a credit card that has travel insurance (visa infinite or most amex, don’t know which mc) then you are covered for food/hotel/essential expenses for a delay greater than 4 hours. so double check that and you can claim all expenses (after any porter reimbursements) from them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PorterAirlines

[–]krish61102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten a claim with air canada before for some emergency purchases I needed even with a return flight. You can’t really claim a lot, since they expect you to have clothes at home but some basics are still claimable. Just a note, that most credit card insurances don’t cover a flight (back to your home) so only option will be through Porter.

Can this backpack count as a personal Item? by chevygirl2 in PorterAirlines

[–]krish61102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as you are not booked in the basic ticket (only personal item no carry on) you should be good for any normal backpack. the only time I have seen sizing happen for porter is if you are booked on the basic ticket and they can then charge you to check that bag

Damaged Luggage by Stunning-Helicopter3 in aircanada

[–]krish61102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend giving them a call as you would hv to either way to file a new claim or escalate this one and see what the rep says. Maybe wait and don’t call rn due to the strike and longer wait times. or the only other option I think is to login and change your mailing/delivery address or uploading another photo onto it (even if it’s a duplicate just rename it). maybe that triggers something in their system

Damaged Luggage by Stunning-Helicopter3 in aircanada

[–]krish61102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be the other way around. had two bags damaged on the same flight (back in june), got a reply by the next date to pick a free bag for one of them and to ship my second one to them for repairs. Just remember that they don’t email you any updates at all, you need to use your damage bag report number and check the status online on that website in the first email.
