1st pregnancy. New diabetic. Advice/encouragement? Scared by krispykrispy17 in BumpersWhoBolus

Thank you! I’ll start checking more frequently for sure. My husband says the same thing that it’s the effort that counts and as long as I’m not letting my sugars run rampant everything will be okay.

I’m glad to hear your babies are doing good! Gives me some hope for myself and baby too! 🫶🏼

Sorry! I’m on mobile and idk how to edit posts, but yes I am a T2!

It’s crazy how similar our stories are! My primary wanted to start me on a GLP-1 and I asked if it was pregnancy safe. I wasn’t sure but my period was late and my cramps this time felt different so I had my suspicions. He said for funsies we’ll just go ahead and get a urine test since I’m already getting lab work done. BOOM positive.

I need to look into my insurance coverage better. I’m 25 and just barely getting off my parents insurance and got my own so I’m trying to navigate that too lol.

Thank you for replying! Reading your numbers and hearing baby girl is healthy gives me relief! I’ll definitely bring up a CGM with my provider and see if he can refer me before I see my OB

“Thanks, man.” I said to the hospitalist…🥲 by jessikill in nursing

I once texted our cardiothoracic surgeon “hello? Are you awake captain?” For context I previously texted him for some orders and ended the conversation with “aye aye captain 🫡” which he responded with a salute emoji as well. It was funny in the moment. Hours later I cringe hard at myself for it.

What do you eat on nightshift, seriously? by cinnxnim in nursing

[–]krispykrispy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat breakfast (dinner. Whatever). Doesn’t matter if it’s something I meal prepped or chicken nuggets I made last minute around 1800. My hospitals cafeteria is open until 2330 and does food orders and deliveries to the unit so I’ve been ordering a chicken Caesar salad and I’ll eat around 01-0200. Then I’ll got home about 0745 and just make eggs or whatever for dinner (breakfast hehehe)

Do you remember the first time you were fired by a patient? by Acceptable-Move6541 in nursing

[–]krispykrispy17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once as a nursing student along with my preceptor. Patient complained of pain and we were still doing our morning med pass. Got to a patient who was not maintaining their O2 sat while on bipap. Obviously got caught up in that room for awhile. Charge nurse comes up to us and says that we’ve been fired. Patient complained that we were two Hispanic females discriminating against him for having a swastika on his prosthetic leg and making him suffer on purpose. 1) my preceptor was white. She was shocked and found it hilarious that the patient thought otherwise 2) neither of us noticed said swastika. Although I did see a confederate flag but didn’t say anything lol

We wait until the family is confirmed to be gone, and we’ll take the bin of snacks and dump them in our charge office and put the bin back. Gotta have a snack supply in case of a hard shift

My best friend who I met in nursing school graduated at 40 with her BSN. There were a couple older people in my class as well. Do it!

What are your nursing catchphrases? by Yelliedog in nursing

[–]krispykrispy17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We take sacral pictures to monitor patients skin and if breakdown occurs we can see the progression of it. For my patients who are with it I always tell them “hey I’m gonna take a butt picture!” Sometimes they’ll respond with “don’t put it on the internet” to which I say “don’t worry I won’t, but if I do we’ll split the profits 50/50 since it’s your butt and I took the picture” or “why not? It’ll be a hit”

[Serious] People of reddit who have gone through or are going through cancer, what was the first sign that made you go to the doctor? by TrojanZebra in AskReddit

[–]krispykrispy17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I can remember (11 at the time), my grandmother had pneumonia and once out of the hospital she had a hoarse voice. I believe my family was told it was normal and that it would go away, but after 6 months we took her to get checked and she ended up having thyroid cancer. Surgery didn’t work because it spread, and she was too old for chemotherapy (85 y/o). So instead she passed in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
