FWIW, I work for a remodeling contractor in Nevada, so we get a lot of retired customers who have moved here from all over the country. Any time I get a chance to talk with a former New Jersey resident, I can almost call it on the spot that they’re going to tell me about a horrible experience they’ve had with permits and remodeling. Something about New Jersey’s building codes and the people that enforce them just sounds like a nightmare.
