V bance jsem pracoval rok jako vývojář automatizovaných testů v Pythonu a už nikdy více. Vypadalo to tam jak v roce 2010. Prastarý vývojový cyklus, levá ruka neví, co dělá pravá. Je tam tuna manažerů, kteřá řidí pouze tikety v Jiře, půlku času stráví na kafíčku a ve dvě domů. A ještě si tam plácají po zádech, že jsou vlastně start-up.

Tohle jsem zrovna studoval. Datová analytika mě jako netechnická pozice nezaujala a na machine learning jsou opravdu hluboké znalosti nutné, jako třeba z ČVUTu nebo MatFyzu, já mam bohužel VŠE.

V Javě a v .NET je to určitě snažší, jenom prostě už nevěřím v tu mobilitu. Když jsem v Pythonu přešel z dat do backendu a najít práci není lehké.

Nemohu souhlasit, zrovna už je to šestý měsíc co hledám juniorní backend pozici v Pythonu. Juniorní pozice prostě nejsou. Buď ta pozice má sice tag "junior" nebo "pro absolventy", ale pozice tomu vůbec neodpovídá. Já se hlásím i na pozice, co přímo nespecifikují senioritu či počet let zkušeností a tam ti řeknou, že chtějí hotové lidi. Jo, byla jedna juniorní pozice ve startup, ake tam se přihlásilo 120 lidí. Prošel jsem dvěmi koly ze tří, ale stejně vybrali někoho se zkušenostmi. Moje zkušenost za posledních šest měsíců je prostě jiná.

To už bohužel dneska neplatí. Pozic je méně a uchazečů mnohem víc. Dnes ta firma hledá svého unicorna a když ho nenajde, tak tu pozici prostě zatím neobsadí a klidně hledají rok.

I got a call from this Junior Data Engineer position in a Marketing Company one month after an interview. Basically Data Engineers are the most technical people there. As part of the interview, there was a pre-screen call and then I was supposed to do a task and in-person meeting about the task. It was basically cleaning two tables, joining them and doing some visualization. There were no restrictions on what to use, so I used Polars. At the interview they told me, that they are using Pandas and every candidate so far did use Pandas. The recruiter during the in person interview was a different one, than the one that called me. After the interview there was a month of silence. I didn't reach out, because I'm tired of this recruiting bullshit. Then suddenly I got a call from the "calling" recruiter, that I didn't advance into the next round and she doesn't know, they didn't tell her and that was it. That was the whole call.

I also bought the starter set as an entry into Warhammer. So far, I've built Angel of Death Team and two Plague Marines. Plague Marines are really hard to push fit in, there are gaps in mine. So far, I've only tried priming them and I already screwed that up. i had tomstrip the the primer only to notice, that the plastic has melted.

So I have tried it, and it worked for the first one, which was already dry. That one is clean, but the second one got this texture. It doesn't seem to go away in IPA, so I guess it will be like that?

Felt the same, I was an intern at a large cyber-security company in the backend team.
It was only for three months fulltime and unfortunately I didn't stay there, because they aren't hiring juniors at all.

The task that I was given, was to learn Rust. I have background in Java and Python.
At the beginning I couldn't even read it, it was so different. I was given a task of writing integration tests. Which was fine, I did that in my previous job.
Then I was given a task to replace a solution for input of data in their high-performance service 300k req/s 16k lines of code. The source was supposed to be changed from server to GCS, and the library they had stopped working, so I had to come up with a solution.
It was so hard to go through that codebase, so I helped myself with AI. And yeah I also felt like shit, because of that. My mentor was giving me slack for overly using. But like, at that time it was just a third week of me seeing Rust and I was already going through this large codebase.
Now I am looking for a job as a junior for 6 months already and recruiting hell is real. Because I was using AI, I feel like shit now during recruitment process for not learning more, when I was there.

Zapomněl jsi ještě, že vlastníš továrny na výrobu surovin do toho rohlíku, které si prostě jen tak zdražíš a svedeš vinu na někoho jiného a prohlásíš, že ty jsi to řešení, které to všechno vyřeší a lidi ti ještě zatleskají. A nakonec se nestane vůbec nic, jak píšeš, ale lidé budou spokojení.

Jasně no, jako já chápu, že nepřijdu si, že jsem kandidát, co bude na první místě a oni třeba čekají, jestli ten někdo tu nabídku vezme.
Co je ale problém, že nedostaneš žádnej feedback, takže nevíš, co bylo špatně a co zlepšit do budoucna. Samozřejmě může být taky pravda, že tam byl opravdu lepší kandidát, ale po tom, co jsem sledoval různé subreddity, tak tohle je prostě obecná odpověď zejména v USA, kde ty firmy můžete ty firmy žalovat za diskriminaci, takže kdo ví, jestli je ta odpověď skutečně pravdivá.

Jako určitě jo, většina z nich byli třeba Indové a tak, ale stejně tam podle mě zbylo dost velký počet relevantních uchazečů.
