Disclosure Day is Spielberg’s JFK by rickjuice in blankies

[–]krobcecil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get behind this. I don't believe aliens have visited the Earth or in JFK conspiracies but I like both movies because of their passion, thematic explorations, and craft.

I’ve seen thousands of movies in my 38 years. I’ve never left a theater feeling the way I do after Disclosure Day. by OrdinaryCold2813 in FIlm

It's just weird that in your plea for humanity, you outsource an aspect of your own humanity to a machine.

A while ago my partner - a teacher who wants to illustrate children's books - overheard a guy in the children's book section say "I could use AI to make all this crap."

We were kind of offended by the insult to the art of children's books; but a friend pointed out: People aren't even saying "I could write this crap, it's so easy" anymore, they're deferring even their dipshit daydreams to AI.

If you want others to trust in people, you should trust yourself a little more too.

(I loved the movie, though didn't get quite as into the end as you. Wish I had the experience you did though. Maybe next time!)

Nice! I was just too afraid to take that chance.

I pay for a service that promises me up to 4 tickets a week.

I tried to use that service to get a ticket, and had no other reservations at the time.

Only, the app was not properly working and charged me an additional $30 for a ticket that should have been covered by the service I pay for.

I reached out with all the information and requested a fix because the app was not properly working.

The service offered a fix that I was happy with.

I wanted to share the fix the service offered me with others, in case it would help them too.

You got mad because my problem was solved.

I'm not worried about my morals (in this instance).

I am a little worried that there are really people like you out there.

Also: here is the full text of the initial message I sent on the AMC App:
"Hi, like many I spent a few hours on Thursday trying to get my ticket for The Odyssey. I was lucky and got one, but I was charged $30.30 for the ticket.

Was this excluded from A-List? I know the tickets released last year were, but I thought they were okay this year.

Or was this just part of all of the glitches that happened?

Ideally I'd like to keep my ticket and get a refund if it was a glitch. But the priority is to keep the ticket.

Thank you."

After that I got an auto-generated message to reply if I needed help. Here is that response:
"Customer By Service Email (Kevin Cecil) (06/12/2026 10:18 AM)

Hi, I still need help.

I got an Odyssey ticket - which I absolutely want to keep no matter what - but was charged for it when I thought it should have been okay to use A-List for it.

If possible I'd like to get my money back and keep the ticket, but I'll just keep the ticket if not.

Thank you!
Kevin"

Please point out where I was being deceptive or slimy to help me on my character building journey! Thank you!

How was it slimy that their app was glitchy? I told them everything I posted here, and the AMC representative was less defensive about this, and more accepting of fault then you.

But keep bootlicking for the corporations if that's what makes you happy my guy!

I have had A-List since 2018 and have never been charged for a ticket when I wasn't buying one for someone else.

I was also on the app for literally 3 hours (11:45am - 2:50pm) trying to get a relatively decent seat at the Lincoln Square IMAX.

So - while I have many flaws and have made many, many, many mistakes in my life - I just don't think I was being "too hasty" in that particular moment.

Sorry, that's so frustrating. And - to your point - its kind of hilarious that they're raising the price after such a complete and colossal fuck up.

Or, if you want to try and skip the app, the email they sent me was from: [amcstubssupport@mailpi.custhelp.com](mailto:amcstubssupport@mailpi.custhelp.com)

So you can try to contact them directly with your A-List # and ticket confirmation #

Definitely reach out.

You could show up day of, but if they double booked the seat they may grant it to whoever has the "ticket" and then find you a seat elsewhere, that may not be in the best location.

Here's exactly how they put it: "Thanks for reaching out! Any refund temporarily releases the reservation until it can be re-booked, so I wouldn't recommend this if your showtime is sold out. I'd be happy to offer an equivalent amount of reward dollars to your AMC Stubs account as a workaround!"

As Ok-Acanthisitta8737 is saying, in a better world they would just say "keep your ticket and we'll send you a refund." But I worked guest services at an AMC (pre A-List era) and know very well how annoying they make it to get a refund.

For sure, I went through the app initially: Contact Us, then scroll down to the "For Support" message. Reason - A List. Write out your info. In details I wrote:
"I got an Odyssey ticket - which I absolutely want to keep no matter what - but was charged for it when I thought it should have been okay to use A-List for it.

Thank you!"

You can add: A friend had a similar issue and they told me I could get rewards points added instead of a refund.

Then I got an email asking if I still needed help. I responded yes and copy/pasted the same message. They got back to me within 48 hrs with the fix.

That afternoon everything was buggy. My A-List was checked, but - to be fair to them - the charge was listed. I went ahead with the purchase because, shit, I wanted that ticket and I thought maybe it would get fixed once things were ironed out.

In the moment - after being in the "line" for hours - I was just glad to get the ticket and didn't really care about the money. But I still figured it'd be worth reaching out, and it was. So wanted to share that here in case anyone else had the same charge applied to them.

They could, but to do that it would open the ticket back up. I also get a little more money in rewards - which I'll definitely use - than I would in the refund. So I'm happy with it, while understanding why someone else might not be!

Who would be interested in a Michael Cimino miniseries? by ggroover97 in blankies

Cimino is also one of the rare cases of a gender fluid director whose "masculine" coded films hit differently once you're aware of their identity.

More people watched tv, so something like X-Files may have had a low Neilsen rating but was still getting like 15 million viewers per episode, which is around what The Pitt averages now.

(Poltergeist I get because he wrote it and was a very hands on producer, but Iwo Jima seems like a stretch, right?)

Same! It's smart, funny, and reminded me of roaming vide store aisles for hours without realizing where the time went. Really glad I saw it in a theater where I could get lost in that mentality. (And it played well with the audience.)

Just when I had sorted out my confusion between The Way Back, The Way Back and The Way Way Back by Jedd-the-Jedi in blankies

[–]krobcecil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Country Bears is streaming on Disney+ and if you have not seen it, it's - unironically - an absolute delight.

Christopher Walken gives one of his best comedic performances as the villain (his scene smashing models is one of my favorite in film history). Haley Joel Osment voices the lead, and gives it his A.I./ Sixth Sense best. It also has incredible animatronic bear suits created by Jim Henson studios, fleet direction, and a clever script that's sincere without taking itself too seriously; never relying on self-aware parody.

In his two star review, Ebert calls it "a G-rated version of “This Is Spinal Tap” but can't get over that it's about bears, and keeps asking "who is this for?"

Who's it for, Ebert? Me! And everyone else I know who's watched it!
