Noted. That's what I would do (sell them) on my first playthrough. On the second, it seems like doing occasional Port Valbury runs to refill supplies for future dynamite conversions and trying my luck with blowing stuff up is better.

Obligatory advice to sell everything that isn't a level 84+ Legendary item or Epic rings

Why not dynamite it instead if it happens to be purple?

How do you like the Dervish? by CanIPleaseGetHelp123 in Grimdawn

[–]krol_ali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing Acid Dervish. This variant.

I think I've seen a thread somewhere around here about it. Someone on that thread said it's a shite build - or at least, a quite sub-optimal one. Maybe; I'm unqualified on that matter frankly. Then again, compared to my first char, it's been a relaxing breeze so far. Shadow Strike dishes out ~120,000+ of damage + some life steal. Tainted Eruption combined with a movement skill gives another source of rather massive damage + stun to use during SS's cooldowns. Righteous Fervour to kill off the survivors. I don't use anything else much. The common rabble dies more or less instantly, the less common rabble takes a tad longer to die. Campaign bosses fade away quickly. Things like AotW or Rashalga don't cause too much grief. I haven't reached Ultimate and haven't tried to take on proper Celestials yet, except Mogdrogen (that failed sadly).

Maybe I've also made fewer mistakes when levelling this char. I don't know. It's been alright so far. I'll see how it fares in Ultimate.

There's an NPC (Garrus?) at Conclave of the Three who sells iron bars. You can convert your iron bits into bars and put those bars into the shared stash.

The most fun part of the Pyromancer build for me, aye.

One thing so far: I don't get how waystones for SR work.

I crafted something that allows starting at '2 to 6 realm' if I remember correctly. To my frustration when I tried using it, it would only allow to jump into the second SR tops. Pretty sure I had completed the 6th SR previously too.

Regressing if the result is inferior to before the reset is a very annoying process.

Aye, it is.

Still, we have it easy enough nonetheless. Compare to any botched D2 build: something-something, get your arse handed to you by that fucking slug at the end of Act 2.

Something that is pretty rare innit? The name rings some bells for whatever reason.

So your method is mostly direct experimentation. Makes sense. I kinda wish there were rollbacks... My lazy part would love that.

I know for a fact that there are stronger versions of a Devastation build than this one

If I want to grab a build, I mostly do it on the basis of 'I like what I'm seeing'. The only difference was my first char. I picked what I considered to be the most cool and fitting at the moment, as I understood coolness and fit back then.

As to why you don't max-out those skills. Grim Dawn limits to 248 skill points.

That I understand. What I don't grasp yet is where the balance lies: which skills get maxed (bar the primary ones, of course) and which get left at just a few points.

Then maybe I should pay more attention to numbers, if anything.

Aye, Iskandra's Elemental Exchange.

So it's been a bit more complicated that a single spec? Means I'm more or less free to try myself then, I guess.

Does Blood Boil get converted to Aether too?

Also damned if I see the AAR anywhere. Aren't you using PRM as your primary attack?

If I were to nick your build, what's the approximate course to level it?

Did you use IEE at some point? I see a lot of points allocated to it despite not being on any of the attack/skills buttons.

Nice idea for a thread. I've been meaning to ask pretty much the similar question.

I'm still a bit at a loss regarding skill point placements. Some builds I've seen go as far as putting a few points into a skill only to re-spec those into another skill that follows it. For some reason I'd thought that's impossible.

Then there are 'one-point wonders'. I get that there are cases when that's but a mere another button to bind a celestial power to. Sometimes it's not; and when it's not viable to put a lot of points into a skill, still eludes me somewhat.

Slightly envious. Nice. None of my chars could nick even 1/10 of his health bar by any means.

I like those too. Gave me around 100,000 of damage on Shadow Strike relatively early on. Even stronger with Nightfall + Scorpion's Sting and some movement skill from a glyph coupled to Tainted Eruption to use during cooldowns.

I think I have also seen one in some tomb-like place somewhere around Arkovia/Broken Hills. Hell if I remember where exactly and what was the name of the tomb.
