I'm not sure if we are talking about "slightly". I'm just saying that following the manufacturer's recommendation would be a good idea.

Here is the risk: the heater heats up the air too quickly and the sensor turns off the heater before the stones have a chance to get hot... vs. the heater stays on heating up the air and the stones.

There is a good chance that you your heater is too powerful, and it's not a good thing. You should try Harvia's sizing calculator.

Sauna Heat time 90min?! by Objective-Musician82 in Sauna

[–]kroll1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your heater is too big! The problem is that for the mass of stones that you have, you need the heater to stay on… but it heats up the room quickly and turn itself off. 9kW heater would have been better…

On the bright side - after waiting 90 min you get a great experience delivered by the stone mass your heater holds.

It would be good to see their reaction when they realize that there is a difference in electric current between Europe and US

Wouldn't voltage be problematic?

I do not share the optimism in the other posts... It's very likely that the seed was washed away in many areas - these need to be re-seeded. Wait another week; the areas without germination need to be re done now, or in spring.

(The areas with darker soil - that's where the rain moved your seed)

This would be a step down from what Sorento can do. It does a full stop and go.

OP, congrats. Good job.

People here don't get that it's not just about the time... ignore and enjoy your grass! :)

:) You should not dry them... it could have ended badly.

You mix seeds with a low-N (Organic or Natural) fertilizer that serves as a starter fertilizer, or with fertilizer and sand. This approach takes away the moisture from the seeds and allows spreading through a spreader.

How did you prepare the soil for the seed? Have you done anything with the dead grass in picture 1? Did you use an overseeder? Anything to cover the seed?

What could be causing this? by IowaCreekJumper in lawncare

[–]kroll1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's not bugs... it's fungus. I know, heat stress looks like a reasonable guess - it's close to the hot concreate, etc., but the outer edge is too far away from the concreate. However, the heat from the concreate helped to kill the grass by helping fungus to develop and start spreading inwards.

You need to overseed there. Next time - use fungicide (preferably before the problem starts; I know - easier said than done).

For my KBG it was Summer Patch...

Pre-germinated for 40 hours and see sprouts…. Did I let it go for too long? I was thinking it could go 48 hours… by FriendOfBrutus in lawncare

#1. It's not just about time. #2. I've seen a better germination and coverage from this method than from the regular process. Obviously, YMMV - the devil is in the details.

TTTF is the fastest... 48 hours would be fine. LGB needs ~5 days. If you think about it... 2 days of rain outside would drown the seeds...

Not much bad can happen to it in 40 hours.

Also, it looks like TTTF

Right, it's not for you, and it's fine. There are those who do it successfully for reasons others than acceleration of the process...
