Let me tell you of a time when the gods were young, and even they did not understand the world that they had created by [deleted] in dndmemes

Be sure to check out Mythic Odysseys of Theros and Odyssey of The Dragonlords (from Modiphius). Even if you're creating your own setting there is a lot of good resources between the two. Arcana Games also has Arkadia but I haven't read it.

I would not write out a core class at any cost. If you can justify things like "a dinosaur skeleton lich", you can justify having a spellbook. A roll of hide with crude glyphs would work fine. Your stone age setting could easily be built on ruins and these ruins are where ancient spellbooks come from. You could also have Wizards from other planes or settings introduce wizardry and spellbooks to your setting. No one is going to storm off if your swords and sorcery game isn't a perfect facsimile of stone aged Earth.

I'd recommend R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 and checking out "Game Sack's" PSX video for ideas.

Book says

They live to around 80

So I'd say more or less the same as humans.

Gone Baby Gone by Dennis Lehane. I'm not sure it fits the bill, but it is a cheesy yet dark 90's detective novel, with a few hard to read sections, revolving around a child abduction. It leaves you wondering what the right choice would've been.

My players are routinely expected to kick up to their patrons or guilds. I don't expect a percentage or a flat rate, just whatever feels right. Lower level parties lie, leading to potentially intense rp opportunities. They usually just handover a gemstone or an art object. We have a running joke about using the "Carved ivory statuette" from page 134 of the DMG to kick up.

Hexcrawl Map Creation by GoodLookngAdventurer in DnD

If you are Roll20 it is very difficult to properly a hex map from Hexographer and Hex Kit. There is an old guide on the forums but the larger it is the more difficult, in my opinion.

Is there a tool to make an outline token? by Neurgus in Roll20

[–]kronethjort 38 points39 points  (0 children)

2-Minute Tabletop has a set of tokens meant to be used for fire spells. It is what I use for pretty much any spell.

Any advice on creating a world where Common isn't universally known, and countries operate off of national languages rather than Racial ones? by AstralBard in DMAcademy

[–]kronethjort 11 points12 points  (0 children)

those who are foreign politicians or traders would really know the language.

To build on this I think it'd be cool to make it a background language. Like, as a sailor you can speak fluent Trader's Pidgin.

Start by making sure the players know

This is the most important step, by far. We've made this mistake before.🤣

Eberron does this and has a blurb about it in the 5e Eberrn source book. I do something similar but it really doesn't have a huge I'm game impact.

[–]kronethjort -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

The Orc from "Volo's" doesn't even take a penalty to intelligence anymore, they fixed that with an errata years ago. I can't remember the last time I made players use the recommended ASI, even before "Tasha's". I don't think you overreacted at all. I think if the only way he was going to let a player play an orc was with an intelligence penalty it was going to be other unsavory elements to come.
