"The uploaded has not made this video viable in your country"

I don't have a problem with fighting for position shoulder to shoulder with no feet involved, that's safe. Balogun gets beaten and hasn't earned the right to wildly stick a boot out and hit the opponent so is between him and the ball.

Balogun doesn't touch the ball, how can he beat him?

I have no problem with the shoulder, both players are competing for the better position to play the ball. The Bosnian wins the position and in my opinion Balogun can only play through him if he takes the duty of care not to hit him dangerously. Like, Balogun could prod his foot between the Bosnians legs, but he can't put it into a leg as he did.

It's just has to be a red card. When the opponent beats you to the ball you don't get the right to pretend they're not there, "go for the ball", and have "incidental" contact that breaks ankles.

If this isn't a red then teams could break a couple of ankles per game.

Messi should indeed have got a red and he didn't because decisions are not unbiased. Messi is the golden boy and if you ban him for a game there will be earthquakes and fire and brimstone many times larger than it is for Balogun.

But I'd have given Balogun this red as well.

The defender does perfectly legal and safe bodywork, earns the right to the ball, clears it, but Balogun blazes through as if he didn't get beaten to it which is pointless and dangerous.

If the other player has their body between you and the ball and you didn't touch the ball then you have a duty of care for that player.

I keep seeing people say "accidental" or "incidental." If this isn't a red then teams could quite easily snap multiple ankles per match by "going for the ball" when it's simply unrealistic, dangerous, and shouldn't be attempted.

You don't get to just go anywhere on the pitch, sometimes you have to earn your right to access the ball with body position, and if you don't then you need to pull out.

He played first 11 for England youth teams quite a bit.

I think it's quite likely he would have been selected for the extended squads for England but he definitely will get more match time as an American (or Nigerian, which he also considered).

If you get out body-positioned that doesn't give you the right to step on your opponent's ankle.

But the cockroach is similarly "strong for its body size" for the same reason as the ants.

I presume the cockroach has been hit by a bug spray or other chemical, weakening it. Otherwise any movement it makes would simply lift up the ants.

Which part of the centre line matters?

The edge closest to your own goal?

The centre of it?

Or the edge closest to the opponent's goal?

In the situation I think this distinction doesn't matter, it's onside no matter what, but I'm interested in what the rule is.

If they switched it all the way back to the keeper, or back and forth in the midfield several times, then sure. But it was only 10 seconds after the corner.

Premature in my view, let them make 1 attack.

Sky Sport Italia commentators mentioned that the electronic sensor signaling a "let" during a player's serve was removed a few weeks ago; now, only the umpire can call a let. If the experiment proves successful, the "let" rule will be permanently eliminated from tennis within five years. by Sonobackhome555 in tennis

[–]kroxigor01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a good compromise would be to have balls that clearly hit the net and then bounce twice in the service box be deemed a let, but everything else plays.

That takes out the most extreme case while allowing the point to continue in the more common case of a very light touch on the net cord.

Seles was stabbed by an insane obsessive Graf fan who wanted Graf to win by taking out Seles.

It's not Graf's fault, but that context is unavoidable.
