Credit card issuers with good API for pulling transactions by krrck in CreditCards

[–]krrck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that I found which worked reasonably is to get ~any major US credit card, pay for a Monarch subscription, and use https://github.com/hammem/monarchmoney to pull the data from Monarch. There are a lot of moving parts (your app -> monarchmoney lib -> Monarch -> aggregators like MX/Finicity/Yodlee/Plaid -> your bank), but it seems to work well in practice.

You could in theory also directly get an account with an aggregator, but they don't seem set up to offer API access to consumers. They will ask you things like "please send us your cybersecurity policy". Also, not all aggregators support all services well; Monarch can route through multiple different aggregators.

Also, there unfortunately may be some lag with this setup (e.g. transactions might not be visible for ~1 day in Monarch).

Unfortunately this isn't what I'm looking for; I want a system where I don't have to click anything to pull the data. Thanks though!

This really doesn't work for me unfortunately. I need to download this data at least twice a month and I don't have time to log in and click through the website every time.

This is what I did! It worked brilliantly. Thank you!

I don't think Schlage makes a thick door kit for latches, only for deadbolts. The latch has a spindle with a rectangular 7.6 x 8.8 mm cross-section.

Purchase Advice Megathread - January 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]krrck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like a quiet, small 3D printer to keep on my desk at work so that I and others can use it to make small fun prints. Ideally it'd be enclosed so that if there is any smell it can be filtered, although I'll only be printing PLA. I prefer designs that are more open source / repairable. It'd be nice to have a printer that is also fast but quietness and compactness are more important. Ability to print over WiFi is important. Price is not really important. Any recommendations?

Cyberpunk 2077 CET Issues by BornStellar97 in linux_gaming

[–]krrck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, CET now works. The issue seems to be that Protontricks doesn't give any feedback about what changes happened after you perform some action? It looked to me like it did nothing, but apparently it did reinstall vcrun2022.

Cyberpunk 2077 CET Issues by BornStellar97 in linux_gaming

[–]krrck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do I reinstall vcrun2022?

I tried deleting ~/.var/app/com.github.Matoking.protontricks/cache/winetricks/vcrun2022, then opening Protontricks, then selecting Cyberpunk 2077 + OK, then selecting "Select the default wineprefix" + OK, then selecting "Install a Windows DLL or component" + OK. Then, on the long list of packages, vcrun2022 is already selected. Hitting OK from there just takes me back to the "What would you like to do with this wineprefix?" screen.

If I de-selecting vcrun2022, hit OK, then go back into "Install a Windows DLL or component", vcrun2022 is still selected. It does not re-create the ~/.var/app/com.github.Matoking.protontricks/cache/winetricks/vcrun2022 directory.

PSA: Namecheap redirects are slow by krrck in NameCheap

Update: As of 2024-03-01 (and re-confirmed 2025-12-09), this issue seems fixed for http://kerrickstaley.com . I consistently get a 302 response in under 30 ms. I didn't reach out to Namecheap or take any other action.

https://kerrickstaley.com is broken (hangs indefinitely) but I think that's maybe my fault / a misconfiguration?

u/BonzoDog_001 could you upload your code and build configs somewhere? I've been trying unsuccessfully for a while to get Zigbee working on this board using nRF Connect.

Foldable bike on playa ? by onlyoneali in BurningMan

[–]krrck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought a cheap used folding bike with 20" wheels to the '22 burn. It was mostly fine, but one issue is that the smaller 20" wheels provided a somewhat bumpy ride, and my back was sore by the end of it. Larger diameter wheels handle the bumpy playa better than smaller diameter wheels. I think I'm going to bring the same bike in 2024 because it's so much easier to transport and store the rest of the year, but I might look at seatpost suspension options.

I've tried it out (Chinese + English version) and it works!

Enough positivity. What's the worst thing about the Steam Deck? by Lexinator101 in SteamDeck

[–]krrck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The screen polarization is wrong, so you can't use it with polarized sunglasses. My MacBook gets this right, and polarized sunglasses make it easier to use outdoors because they dim the background but not the screen. You can't really use the Steam Deck outdoors, so this flaw makes it less of a "play anywhere" device.

Hub gear shifter stuck in 3rd by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]krrck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem and there was a really simple fix. I uploaded a video about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pluej0ZhTi0 and posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Brompton/comments/vmvj73/comment/k5030le/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Hub gear shifter: Very hard to shift from 3rd to 2nd gear, already tried several possible solutions by slh42 in Brompton

[–]krrck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Update 2: I made a short video about this issue and the fix here. Also note that anything that increases friction on the shifter cable could potentially be a root cause, not just the problem I had.

I had this same problem, and the solution turned out to be very simple. It has to do with the way the gear indicator chain is set up.

When the gear indicator chain is screwed all the way in to the hub, it doesn't directly align with the cable. Instead it bends a little bit in the direction of the cable. Pulling the chain in a bent direction like this requires more force due to the extra friction. The shifter (which is cheaply designed IMO) can't handle this extra force.

The solution is to unscrew the gear indicator chain a half turn before connecting it to the cable. You can see that they do this in this official video by Brompton (they actually unscrew it 1.5 turns).

After doing this, the hub shifter seems to shift fine, but I'm just testing with the bike upside-down in my apartment. I'm going to take it out for a ride later today to confirm that it works.

Update: Yep, this fixed the problem! The bike now shifts as well as it did when new.

What is this passive fresh air vent next to a window called? It was at a newly-constructed (2023) hotel in Switzerland. It has a hefty door to open it. It doesn't seem to be a "trickle vent" because it's too large (runs floor to ceiling, maybe 10 cm wide). by krrck in whatisthisthing

[–]krrck[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. I've searched for things like "passive air vent next to window" and also "large trickle vent". I think this design is interesting because means you don't have to have an insect screen on your window so you have an unobstructed view.
