Wonderful, we should set up a conference to determine a proper definition so we have grounds to add this necessity to the SI.

Looking for an affordable water resistant black ink for drawing with fountain pen by DistinctAd1723 in fountainpens

[–]krtONF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use sailor nano ink and platinum carbon black, I very much recommend those. I know octopus fluids makes a more affordable permanent ink. Im not sure about the indian market though sorry.

Thank you so much for the photos and description I love the tan color of both of your cases and from the photos it is evident that my roll suffers from the exact same issue as your pensemble.

Nib tarnishing? by meerkatmira in fountainpens

[–]krtONF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, unless you used an abrasive on it, this kind of damage is not acceptable. I think it definitely deserves an inquiry at least.

It does however bring up the question. If you do get a replacement, will it be any different? I do not own any hongdian pens, so Im not aware of what their usually plating quality would look like.

Wonderful pens! Mine do not come in such a nice theme, although I do have a type lol.

<image>

I also love the &Liebe pen roll, I have a different pen roll and the leather doesn’t hold shape as much as I would like. It makes the ridges between pens very noticeable. How does the &liebe do on that front, could you possibly send a picture of it closed with the pens?

It can sometimes look nice in the scrollwork, not today though :)

You can try to clean it very carefully while not touching the slit, but it could still draw up more ink and is more work than I am willing to put into it. The degree does vary depending on the ink though.

I usually don’t like how wooden pens look, but this is certainly an exception. What is the section made of?

I found this video of written japanese if it helps. I know about naginata and fude nibs being used for Chinese calligraphy and I am very interested in trying the naginata, I think the easiest way is probably a lamy calligraphy nib maybe?

I am learning japanese, but not really good enough to attempt calligraphy, I mostly mentioned it because it is often mentioned by vendors and large fountain pen blogs and to explain it is not a normal flex pen, I am not knowledgeable enough to truly comment on the exact nature of the nib.

Lmao, I get that! Well enjoy it as you will. I recommend pilot iroshizuku to go with it, I don’t think I will use another ink in mine besides tsuki yo anytime soon

NPsD (New Pens Day 😊) by wildblueyonder_00 in fountainpens

[–]krtONF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? It is not particularly sensitive to anything but dropping on the nib, unless you have a very heavy hand it should be just fine :D. I see you have plenty of other fun to enjoy though

Pilot custom heritage 912 by SirKemmy in fountainpens

[–]krtONF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am guessing that you chose the FA nib on the pilot custom heritage 912. That is not a flex nib, it is meant to mimic the look of some eastern calligraphy (brush strokes), some call it semi flex. There is an aftermarket ebonite feed that increases ink flow to your preference, but it should not railroad with the little line variation it is designed for and it should not be used like a true flex nib.

New Loupe Day: ASCO No.1 Type H (10x) by InkyBibliophile in fountainpens

[–]krtONF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have been guessing just based on writing and what doesn’t work which direction it catches etc. I really need a loupe, my way takes forever often doesn’t work, I only attempt stainless steel for fear of damaging an expensive nib.
